Ordered this for my furniture business. This machine has performed quite well so far. Every piece put through this planer has has ran exceptionally well with no snipe. Blades are fresh and crisp. above 1/8th. Planer is hooked up to a Grizzly dust collector Model # G8027 . Both perform very well together.
This planer worked great when brand new, but 4 months after I bought it, with minimal use, it no longer wants to feed the material. I bought this as an "upgrade" to my old DW734, but that old work horse never gave me this problem, even after years of use and thousands of BF planed. I have read that the rollers on the 735 don't work well in cold conditions, but my shop is consistently at 60 degrees or higher. I did go through the trouble of cleaning the rollers and waxing the bed and I will reverse the knives as recommended, but I don't think this is something that should need to be done to such a new machine that has been used minimally. I don't enjoy spending valuable shop time "babysitting" an expensive machine that was designed poorly. My advice: stay away from this one if (1)your shop is cold (2)if you don't like wasting your time babysitting a vital shop machine constantly and (3) you don't enjoy getting ripped off constantly having to buy their overpriced, cheaply made knives. If you want to stay with Dewalt, get the 734 (assuming they have not cheapened it out since they made my unit well over 10 years ago.)
This machine is incredible!!! Lots of great features, very easy to use, and very accurate, right out of the box. My regular steel blades leave an amazingly smooth finish. Sanding optional! Works great with my Dust Buster. Small chips with no blockage. Worth the difference. Get one!
Last year I got this machine as a birthday present. This is best machine in my wood workshop. My friends also saw this machine and several people bought it. I will recommend this machine to my friends. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
purchased 735 about a year ago have not been able to complete a project with it stops in the middle of a cut almost like the motor is over heating and blows the circuit breaker
Bought this planer after much research. Being budget, space, and experience limited this planer with the stand has been fantastic. It is not cheap but good tools aren’t cheap. This is one of those tool to get your foot in the door and once you see what’s inside that door you’re just going to want more. Just buy one and you’ll enjoy it.
I ran across the planer on sale which included an extra set of knives, in/out tables and the roll around table. I’ve only used the planer a few times on walnut but it performed flawlessly, providing a very smooth surface and no snipe. I would not hesitate recommending this product.
