Great Battery For small Solar Systems

Bought 8 of these Deep Cycle Marine Batteries (29F series)For a small Solar backup system for 2 refrigeration units ( a Refrigerator and Freezer ) using 8 Batteries setup on two carts each operating in 12 hour cycles. Ran them every other day for 24 Hours (2 Cycles = four batteries per cycle). Maintaining optimum charge between cycles is important for maximum life of battery. If you just store these with out working them it has been reported that you will get just over a year before they fail. These batteries are listed as maintenance free but the cell caps pop off for inspection of fluid level and you will have to check that acid levels do not drop below the plates and add distilled water occasionally. I used them in this service for two and a half years before Half of them failed and performance on the other four batteries were reduced in half ( Failing). Savings on Electric Bill about $40.00 a month. Batteries were $1200.00 divided 30 months service life = about $40.00 a month. So the real gain is just in having a ready back up system - your results may be different of course : so good luck!

diehard deep cycle m4

I got three of these less than 2 1/2 years ago, one failed before one year was up, unfortunately I didn't take it back until just after the one year date was up thus no warranty, now the second one started failing shortly after and is now not holding a charge-failed.... I would absolutely not buy diehard ever again.. I had delco voyagers before that lasted almost 8 years, no comparison.
