The search for the perfect fridge

My wife Anne and I own a condo on the beach in Vero FL. Our old refrigerator had a minor leak that caused water to drip on the tile floor. My wife slipped and fell and we decided to look for a replacement. The search was an eye opening experience. We are both very concerned about safety, quality as well as value. We have a galley kitchen which translates into tight space and that we had to have a counter depth fridge. Of the 11 counter depth fridges we looked at by far the Electrolux was the best. The fit and finish we're great. Everything about this fridge is fantastic. The water is purified, the air is filtered and the lights are led all of which is truly great. We have had it a month now and a number of people in our building are looking at Electrolux as an option in there search after seeing ours.

Please don't buy an Electrolux refrigerator.

We came to own an Electrolux refrigerator (model EI23BC56IS8) that conveyed with our new home in March 2014. Per the sticker in the unit, it was manufactured in June 2011 (less than five years ago). For the second time in two years, it stopped making ice. This time the technician slid the unit out to get access to the control board which revealed a three-foot streak of rust down the back of the unit capped with an actual piece of ice (see ****** for a pic). Yes, among the giant rust spot, is a chunk of ice. Doing a little research online, Electrolux refrigerators are subject to failures in the coolant line or insulation that can result in what we experienced - basically a hole. Since we came to own this fine piece of refrigeration through the purchase of our home (i.e., it was "transferred" to us), Electrolux is choosing not to stand behind its product to do anything about it. Notably they have never expressed any interest in determining how this happened in less than 5 years - they simply do not care. There are so much better refrigerators out there, please do not buy an Electrolux.

Does not appear to auto reset after power outage

    |

This has been a good refrigerator with one exception. When there is a power outage you apparently have to manually reset it. If you are away for an extended period of time you could lose all the food inside.

Stopped working after 3 1/2 years.

I bought a kitchen full of Electrolux appliances and regret it. I've had to fix the microwave, the dishwasher touch pad is too sensitive and turns on all the time when trying to load the dishes, and now the touch pad for the refrigerator stopped working. Buy another brand.

    Warning - Bad Refrigerator!!!!!

    |

Would give it a big "0" if I could. Don't buy this refrigerator. Had the same problem as another reviewer. The ice maker stopped working, then the water & after 4 years, also had the rust streak problem, a hole and chunk of ice at the back of this refrigerator. Had to buy a new refrigerator...total waste of money. Not a good buy at all! I can't believe it is selling for over $3,000!!!!

Looks great with other SS appliances.

We were not looking for a French-Door originally, but this unit caught our eye. Inside has everything we wanted with shelves and drawers. The freezer is a good size, too. For our kitchen, counter depth is a must, so not only do we have a good fit, it looks good too!

    HORRIBLE -DO NOT BUY

    |

Bought this French door fridge from Pacific Sales in 2009 & I did do a bad review on it at the time. Do not buy any products from Pacific Sales or appliances with the Electrolux or Frigidaire brand. I believe Electrolux is part of Frigidaire now. After you buy an appliance, they stop caring about you as a customer. We had this Electrolux fridge for 2 hours & the front panel (motherboard) stopped working. Contacted Pacific Sales & told them we wanted a new fridge...went back & forth & didn't get anywhere with them. They finally got a technician out & he couldn't fix it. Pacific Sales then said we had to contact the manufacturer (OMG). So, after more questions & us explaining the problem to Electrolux, they sent us a new one. However, the ice maker was very noisy. In 2013, the ice maker stopped working. Because of what we went thru with Pacific Sales and Electrolux service depts. before, we just lived without the ice - made ice the old fashioned way. Then, in June of 2016, the water dispenser stopped working. Just wonderful. That's not the end of it. Just a week ago (May, 2018), it stopped working. It completely lost it's cooling abilities.Temperature went up and down, getting up to 58 degrees inside. Of course, all our food perished. Freezer still worked tho. So, I REPEAT: DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF TRASH
