The learning ability of this radar detector is what makes it worth the money. My wife hated the constant blare of my old detector. This one has nearly eliminated all of that fuss, and she is much happier. Our recent trip to DC also helped to locate traffic cameras - I'm sure one or two would have caught me.
I have used the 9500 iX for several years. Unfortunately in the rural area which I live, as I see the cop, thats when the alert goes off. I have not been able to adjust the range or accuracy to compensate, even in the auto mode. Driving 7-10 miles over the limit I have received several tickets in the last 3 years. The unit is very accurately installed with a laser alignment. The GPS alert has been useful to remind me when I am coming up on a photo section. Overall I am not happy with range or sensitivity.
I have had this radar detector for 3 years. It was great for the first year but now it has become worthless. Ever since I purchased my Dodge Durango it gives false laser alerts just about every time I accelerate. I have called Escort multiple times regarding fixes and all they tell me is that their engineers are working on it. If the engineers were truly working on a fix I would hope they could come up with a solution within 2 years.
I've had my 9500ix for about 3 years now. I get the advertisements for Escort's latest detector, but haven't bought the latest and greatest just yet. I'm sure I will though since though since I have countless saves using my Escort. Although you always need to be careful and aware of laser and instant on Ka, driving with my 9500ix gives me a definite advantage. That's where the Waze app becomes the perfect partner! Using both tools, you give yourself a HUGE advantage over sneaky speed traps. I never drive without both on.
I have owned several ESCORT detects over the last 20 yrs! Early on, I had some lemons! I bought the 9500iX several yrs ago!! it's the best ever!! Well, at least for me!! Last week, I picked up HP wif active radar on I44 over 3 miles from his trap.
Thought that this detector would pick up all radar signals but unfortunately I was quite wrong. I was clocked in traffic on a california highway & got a hefty speeding ticket. The detector never went off at all. I wasn't going over a hill, or around a corner, it was on a straight flat strip of road. Very unhappy I spent a nice chunk of money on this detector & now going to spend a nice chunk of money on the ticket.
Excellent Detector - Great Update System... however
I purchased the $30.00 Super Cup for my new 9500ix- the suction cup stem stretched, and then broke OFF the mount... maybe a bad one so I buy another Super Cup... this is one's suction cup is now stretched, and ready to snap.
I just called Customer Support. After a $60.00 investment, time and frustration; the most she offered was free shipping ($5.00) for another $30.00 "special mount"- ie. a Sticky Mount.
I'm sorry, that's NOT standing behind your product.
