Replaced an old air conditioner I had for years and was so mad that it finally died after 15 years...I went to sears to get same ac I had before because it lasted so long. I got the closet to my old one they had and now I am happy my old one died. The new one really puts out the cold air. Standing in front of it gets actually uncomfortable from the cold. The energy bill didn't hardly move the needle for as big of an AC that this is. Overall I am thinking I should have replaced my old sooner since the energy star was not an option when I got the first one and I would have saved much money had I gone to this model sooner. In between the two units I did try the free standing moveable unit and that was the worst mistake ever. Do not buy one of those. My house actually got hotter because the compressor is actually filling the house with hot air. The hose that goes out the window is for the air intakes all the hot air that is made on the outside of your house with a window unit is now in the house. Nothing replaces a good window unit. Never will I try a moveable one again. I will keep this new window unit until it dies then I will go to a split unit but hopefully this will last 15 years like the one I had prior from sears.
Our evaluation of this product is regarding the issue with the need we had for an in-the-wall replacement air conditioner unit. It is NOT an in-the wall unit it is a window unit and, as a result has to have the accordion panels on each side to be installed. This possibly will affect the components over time. The panels were not a part of the description when the salesperson selected this model for our application. The other complaint I have, is that the design of the front panel looks fine if you like ultramodern with a see-through vent so the mechanical components are visible when installed at eye-level. Probably fine if you have contemporary decor, but our home has a Craftsman decor. Something we find very "industrial" in appearance since all I expected was a traditional vented panel! It seems to operate O.K. although we've had it only for a couple weeks. Wouldn't recommend as the appearance and design is very undesirable.
I thought I was ordering a Kenmore window air conditioner. Kmart told me my Kenmore air conditioner had been shipped When it arrived the delivery guy with UPS dropped it and the carton was damaged so I decided to return it and order another one because it was also the wrong air conditioner. It was a FRIDGEDAIRE air conditioner not a Kenmore. I ordered another KENMORE air conditioner and Kmart told me my KENMORE air conditioner had been shipped and the told me my KENMORE air conditioner had been delivered.
I am still waiting for a KENMORE air conditioner to be delivered because I received another FRIDGEDAIRE air conditioner.
If I refuse to pay for the wrong air conditioner would that get their attention because when I called for the return no one paid any attention to the fact that it was the wrong air conditioner. Maybe I will call them again or maybe not.
Bought it to cool my living room...cools the whole 1st floor!
Example: I bought this a month ago and am so happy that I did...
I’ve had this about a month and aside from first arriving with shipping damage (dented case and cracked control panel), I’m satisfied with the AC. It installed easily and cools the lower level of my town house nicely!! For it to work 100% efficiently you have to give it a few days because newer ACs use the condensation water to cool down the condensor. That’s said it takes a day or two for it to “fill” with water and work to it’s maximum efficiency. Blower can be a little loud on HIGH but keep in mind this is a higher BTU unit so it needs to have strong air flow. About 550 sq ft with 9’ ceilings and cools it down. Remote could be better quality but works.
The unit seems well made. It was easy to install and is quiet and cools quickly. I use it to cool a 500 sq ft area and it does a fantastic job. I am very happy with ita so far.
