Description Specifications
Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire by 50%, and that's important because a home fire starts every 83 seconds! The faster you know about a fire, the faster you can start moving your family outside. The First Alert smoke alarm with escape light not only alerts you to smoke and fire with a loud 85-decibel alarm, but also illuminates your path to safety. It uses ionization smoke sensing technology with a new contemporary enhanced smoke gathering design. It also features a low battery alert to remind you when to change the battery and has a missing battery guard to ensure that a battery is placed inside the alarm. The side battery drawer slides open for easy battery replacement. A blinking power indicator on the unit confirms that it is receiving power. The silence/test button allows you to both silence a non-threatening alarm and to test the unit's functionality. The alarm contains an optional pin to lock the battery and unit in place for tamper resistance. It can be mounted on either the ceiling or the wall and can be used in mobile homes and RVs. It includes one 9-volt battery and has a 10-year limited warranty.

    It's good

It's good for its price. However, it is required for drilling. The installation hole don't match with my old alarm. So I have to drill a hole.

Did not work when pot heavily smoking on stove.

I installed this item close to my electric stove in kitchen and set up per instructions. One morning I placed a pot on stove to reheat some food and left it there unattended . While in my bedroom at other end of the house I notice and could smell something burning . I immediately ran to the kitchen and the room was full of smoke and the smoke detector did not go off . That stainless steel pot that I was using was very severely burned and I even thought of throwing it away but didnot. it took me about three days to clean it with oven cleaner.

    Easy install.

Smoke alarms should be essential in homes and businesses. Not having any in our home, I decided on these.

They came with everything, except the battery. The battery was a little tricky to get in the correct place to get it to work correctly. The space is small to insert the battery, but it's like it needed just a little push to get the battery to connect with the alarm. The test button did have a little pause when pushing it, but it worked. We did test the alarms with a "safe" smoke & they worked as they should.

    First Alert Smoke Alarm

This is a very cheaply made smoke alarm for the price.

    Easy to install

Came with battery and mounting hardware.
Worked well when tested and only uses one battery. Most smoke detectors with lights have to have 2 batteries.

First Alert Smoke Alarm, Battery Powered, Escape Light

I am lucky enough that I haven't had to see the Escape Light work. I like the way the Battery goes in the unit; quick and easy.
