In my family, we all work desk jobs and we're not really "sports" types so working out is not a main lifestyle focus. My mom, my brother, and I have all experienced chronic back pain at times. At 60, 28, and 23, I know we can all benefit from strong core and back muscles to help maintain our posture and support, ease tension, and prevent strain. I picked up three of these little kits for Christmas (yes, one for myself... freedom from back pain=Merry Christmas to me). Here's what I like: -Commitment is not overwhelming. You have to find space in your home for this little peanut ball, and literally ten minutes a day to go through a workout. Just lay down a towel if you don't have carpet, and do the exercises in your pajamas. -Variety! There are two ten-minute workouts included on the DVD plus one more that you can get online. Each video also has a variety of exercises--they pack a lot into ten minutes so you don't have a chance to feel bored, and you can learn a range of exercises and techniques to eventually build your own routine, choosing the moves that work best for you. -It's great for you. A strong and flexible core and back are a great foundation for all activities, or an attainable goal for previously inactive people. I've only done each video once but MAN it is a workout! I started off thinking "Oh this is easy, only ten minutes, I can do this." Then I moved to "Whoa, I'm feeling the burn and the stretch!" And finally "Wait, ten minutes are over already?" I would recommend this kit especially for those who are reluctant or nervous about being new to exercising, or existing physical problems. Start small and get great results. Do each video once a week before or after a brisk 20-minute walk, and you've got a pretty decent beginner's cardio+strength exercise plan at an amazing price!
Wish this would have worked as I it would have been a great addition to my pre- and post-work out regimen. However, the "ball" won't inflate all the way. Seems as if the pin on the pump and the inflation hole are mis-matched. Should have read the other reviews before purchasing. I'll be returning this.
Helps ease my back pain from arthritis.
Seems to happen a lot lately, It was obviously a return, bags and box only held together by tape. Luckily everything was accounted for, this time. I haven't gotten to try to play the dvd yet, but everything else seems great.
I take this to every job site I go to, I use it for my posture as well as being able to get pops out of my upper, mid, & lower back; simply sit in a chair, re-position/adjust the height & let it do the work, even when I start slouching I'm able to get pops & stretching as it rolls up the further I slouch & down as I come back up or place it vertically & rock side to side to open the spine for a total length stretch, the more you work on your posture the deeper the stretch when leaning back or side to side. Side note - I was injured in South Korea in 2011 when my L1/L2 vertebrae shifted to the right & the injury wasn't found until 2013 (just over a year after I got out of the Army) & because it was found late I have internal scar tissue built up from my low back to above my mid back & this is a great item to use for my back while I continue to fight to get disability for my spinal injury. P.S. I got 12 pops from top to bottom while writing this review.
It seems like some people get one that is equal on both sides and some get one that is bigger on one side. Which way is it supposed to be? Mine is unequal and I want one that is the same size on both sides.
I am an exercise professional (classical ballet teacher) but struggle to give myself time for self care. This is an excellent, intelligent, focused workout - and to my astonishment took only 10 minutes plus another ten minutes for the two workouts. Even I can manage ten minutes for "myself", with no excuses!! Thank you Gaiam! Two items: - Cannot find the downloadable BackRrelief workout as mentioned at the start of the DVD on the menu page - has this been discontinued? - Any chance you would let me know what music you have used for the background? It is so upbeat and yet non-intrusive and it really helped focus me!
