Was skeptical about buying this gazebo because the only review on it said it collapsed in the rain because the side supports did not hold and other gazebo reviews said they were damaged in high winds.
I reinforced the side supports where they join together by screwing a 1/2"x4" flat galavanized steel plate with self tapping screws underneath the joint so it can't collapse at the joint. This added strength to the structure.
We had a very heavy rain storm with high winds last week and the gazebo held up no problem. My only concern was it blowing away because I did not bolt it to the deck yet. I have since bolted it down, now we can just enjoy it without concern. I bought an outdoor ceiling fan from ***** and it helps to keep us cool.
First couple weeks was great. We secured it to the ground and had the screens all opened, loved it! Then we had a rain storm. First gust of wind (just a small rain storm, nothing serious) caused it to bow. All the arms that keep it square bent and the middle of the 12' sides bowed. I've had the cheap version that lasted three summers, this one....barely three weeks! So disappointed! I'm giving it three stars because we loved the look of it....but the quality is sad.
