I read all the good and bad reviews about HE washers and decided to buy one anyways. I chose the GE after researching because some of the other big players had problems. This washer has turned out to be one of the better deals I have found -- I just hope it lasts more than a few years. Cleaning - All I can say is this cleans better than any other washer I have ever owned. I have clothes that had old stains on them that were only wore around the house. Well, this machine got the old stains out that had been there for a long time and now I can wear them out to dinner. This machine has a dispenser drawer for the HE detergent and fabric softener. The detergent dispenser works great; however, the fabric softener dispenser did not work on any cycle. I contacted GE and they replied with a bunch of hogwash about cleaning the machine, adding water to the fabric softener, resetting the machine, etc... On a new machine, why would I have to run it through a clean cycle. Anyways, I ran it through the clean cycle and the 15 other suggestions. Now what I have is when I pour in fabric softener, it runs right out when filling the dispenser. Ok, I can live with that. I just have to pause the machine during rinse and add the fabric softener. When I did a web search, found out this is a common problem with the GE. GE knows about the problem, so why did they not just tell me I would have to add fabric softener manually. Other than the fabric softener issue, I am very satisfied with this washer. If you get it under $600, I would consider it a good deal when compared with other washers with the same features. Notes: Read the manual. Yes, read the manual. Us men think we can operate any machine without instructions, but I am telling you to read the manual. Make sure you get this washer level - check side to side, front to back, and corner to corner. If you do that one thing, you will solve 90% of the problems folks are reporting about HE washers.
I've had this washer a few months and am so disappointed. I can't even do a load of sheets (flat sheet, fitted sheet and 3 pillow cases) without having it sound like it's coming through the floor and it moves so much it bangs into my new washer and turns sideways in my laundry room. If I try a duvet cover, it does the same and then doesn't rinse so I have a 50 lb water logged duvet cover to deal with. My old cheap washing machine handled these items easily (not too heavy). Also, the normal sounds of the machine sound like you're having an MRI. It's quite comical when you are on the phone with someone and they say "what is that noise"?
I had a used Maytag Washer the broke down after 7 years. I upgraded with this product and have been very satisfied.
The washer seems to handle large loads well, and living on a ranch there are a lot of different "stains" to deal with.
I like that it has a large capacity so it can hold blankets, comforters and large loads of work clothes without a problem. I wish there were a few more options for washing cycles (it has jeans, active wear, etc. - would prefer more choices). Two things I'm not a fan of is the noise level and also doesn't seem to spin out water as much as it should.
Great washer! Clothes are clean. Giant capacity. Easy to clean dispenser. The one thing you must do is balance the bulky items when you put them in or it will knock and walk the floor. It's no big deal and once I figured it out, it's all better!
The clothes were clean and machine is very quiet and economical
