Wire shelving allows for light to penetrate and eliminates shadows. I already have the Geartrack panels in my garage so this shelf was an easy choice. With the geartrack system I can move hooks and shelves around as needed.
I like the gladiator products except this one. I really liked the idea of this shelf to get a few things off my work bench, however I was quickly disappointed when I mounted it to the wall and it was already leaning forward without any weight on it. I put an item weighing 3lbs on the shelf and it just got worse. I ended up putting wood shims between the rail and the shelfing unit to make it level. Not good for supporting anything with weight. Way to flimsy. I recommend the larger 30" shelf if you have the room. Supports more weight and stable too.
This will work if you put light things on it. Be it a little heavy and i can see it bending. I used it to store a few light weight tarps and it is fine for that. I would not put anything that is heavy on it.
Rather than use the shoe rack for shoes I decided to use the wire shelf. I have 3 wire shelves and they hold quite a few shoes. I like that the shoes aren't leaning forward and that it doesn't take up extra vertical space.
We recently built a new garage and never got around to finishing it with all of the nice little extras to keep organized. After looking at several track type organizers we decided to go with the Gladiator system and being available at Sears was another plus because we knew we would be able to get more pieces of the system as needed. This wasn't a one shot deal at a discount store. The track is easy to install and the shelves just hook onto the track. It couldn't be much easier. The shelves are made from welded wire and have a sturdy feel to them.
