A fantastic slow cooker that does it all. You can use it like a good old fashioned crock pot, if that's what you prefer. Just manually select the high, low, or keep warm setting. But you also have two other neat options: 1) count-down or timer mode, while using either the high or low settings, or 2) you can use the temperature probe to reach a low temperature of 160 degrees or the high setting at 180 degrees. After reaching either targeted temperature, the unit will then automatically coast into keep-warm mode. Very cool! This model is designed to automatically turn off after 14 hours of use. A rubber gasket on the lid and two clamp-down latches make this an easy slow cooker to transport without spilling the contents. We can understand why this model was recently recommended in a national consumer magazine. We highly recommend this slow cooker as well. It's an easy-to-use crock pot that is just loaded with convenient features. We love ours.
**Pros:** - I love how you can set the crock pot to stop cooking when the meat reaches a certain temperature - perfectly cooked meat! - The three different options for cooking (manual, program, or temperature) give the flexibility needed for many dishes. - The size is perfect for big roasts and small dishes. **Cons:** - The above positives cannot outweigh the fact that my crock pot decides to shut off whenever it wants to. I often cook a chicken or roast overnight, and getting up the next morning to a cold crock pot with so much ruined meat in it is not pretty. It usually shuts off after running for about eight hours, but has done it after an hour or two as well. I got a crock pot so I could set and FORGET, not have to babysit it to make sure it's still cooking. - It doesn't cook as long as my new crock pot (CrockPot touch screen model) does, and I like doing long, low cooking times around the clock.
The Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker is a very convenient appliance for working/hectic lifestyles. I've used a slow cooker for over 30 years. Over the years they have improved in design and function, I really like the programmable cooker they have out now. All it takes is a few minutes to prepare ingredients and the cooker does all the work. You have a balanced healthy meal for your family. What even makes it better is sitting at a table and talking to your family in a relaxed environment. The real meaning of family time instead of eating at fast food places.
I was never a fan of crockpots but it may have just been I didnt use a good one plus I'm a hands on kind of cook . I broke down and bought the Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget 6 quart oval slow cooker and boy did it make me a fan of slow cooking. I've only used it a few times since I bought it but I am looking forward to trying new things.
This is my very first slow cooker! I'm still learning how best to cook with it, but so far, I'm very impressed. The crock itself is a very nice design and the settings are easy to navigate. The probe was very handy when I recently cooked a roast.
My husband and I received this slow cooker as a wedding present, and it quickly became a staple in our house. The programmable options allow for perfect cooking each time, and it's very easy to use. The best feature on this slow cooker though is the ease of clean up due to the removable pot. My husband and I simply line the cooker with a slow cooker bag, and when we're done, toss the bag, remove the pot, give it a quick wash and it's done! This is a wonderful product, and it has made my hectic weekday schedule much easier!
I like when you can cook by temperature rather than low, medium, and high. What actual temperatures are they? But for people used to the traditional slow cooker, you can use it that way, too. Nice looking design and has removable crock for easy clean up. Has rubber feet for non slip on counter top/table. Glass lid so you can see your food as it cooks, no peeking and letting all your heat out.
