For months I wanted to purchase a home carpet cleaner. We researched extensively. I have a senior dog who is almost 18 years old. For a period of time, we were having a problem with diarrhea and, if we did not read his warning signs about having to go out, he would do it on the carpet. Our fault. Not his. Over Labor Day weekend, we decided to clean the carpet; we know how to have fun! We purchased the Hoover Deluxe Carpet Cleaner from Sears along with the extended warranty plan. I was eager to test the product. When we got it home we began. We read the instructions carefully , moved the furniture, looked at the Berber carpet which was an absolute mess and hoped for the best. First I have to say that after reading the negative reviews and trying the product myself, I wonder if those who said it was difficult to use, didn't pick up water, suddenly stopped woking when it hit a bump, did not clean, was using the same product I was. The Hoover Carpet Cleaner exceeded all my expectations. When we were finished with half the room, my husband and I could not believe how clean the dirty, stained carpet was. It looked like new carpet. The Hoover was very easy to operate. It did not suddenly turn off when bumped, picked up so much water that the carpet was dry within two hours and it smelled great. The following day we did the other half of the room. Now the entire room looks like we have new carpet. This is a temporary rental apartment for us ( our house is being restored) and prior to moving in the management had the carpet cleaned. There was one stain in the middle of the room the professionals said they could not get out. The Hoover did. We have used the carpet cleaner several times since Labor Day with no problems.
Purchased this model last night as a replacement for an old Spin Scrub that we had gotten all of the good out of. Took it out of the box today, put it together and went to work on the carpet. After about an hour's use, it started making a horendous noise. I thought I was standing underneath one of the nuclear warning sirens on the poles in my area. I called the number on the unit, and let the female helping me hear it. She said that it sounded like the motor was gone in it. Kinda sucks because this is the second day in a row I've tried to get my carpets cleaned. She said for me to take it back to the place of purchase for another one. Not sure I want another one. Another 45 minute trip to the retailer. We got years of service out of the old Spin Scrub, and it's not looking good for the new model. Also, on a couple of different points...Fix your website; I can't return down to start a new paragraph, and this form will not come up on an Apple product. And, I thought I was buying a trusty, American-made appliance with the name Hoover. But, after looking, it's made in Mexico. If BestBuy offers an additional warranty at the time of purchase, I think in this case, it would be a wise investment.
Purchased this model on 6-27-14 and finally got around to using it today. Boy did it exceed my expectations. This is the third Hoover carpet cleaner we have had in the last 20 years. The previous 2 were very good but this one seems like it might be a little better. We have gotten our monies worth out of the previous two, ten times over. NO complaints about them at all. The new model is much lighter. The tanks are very easy to remove and attach. I like the port hole in the dirty water tank. Makes it very easy to empty. You don't have to pop off the top and re-attach like on the previous two. This new model does use much more water than the other two. It also seems to have better suction due to better design. We will see how long this one lasts, only time will tell. We have three dogs so we will use it quite often. Hoover has always proven itself as a quality product, so far. Like I said we have had Hoover steam vacs for the last 20 years. Someone in design must have listened to their customers. Much quieter than the other two also. This one is only 10 amps whereas the others are 12 amps. Way to go Hoover!!!!!
