Something finally competes with JBL

Very nice deep bass, crisp clear highs and beautiful mids that I can actually say competes quite well with my JBL bookshelf speakers and pro amplifier. The VU meters on this thing don't really show anything until you crank this thing up 2/3 of the way. Max volume of 30, VUs come to life at 20, and twitch at around 15 to 18 depending on how high you have your pre-amplifier set. I usually keep my pre-amp at 1/3 as to not wear out the tubes too quickly. The VU meters do indicate to me the the right channel is slightly more powerful than the left, but seeing as how I am deaf in my left ear, that doesn't really bother me that much, but it would be nice to have individual gains on the back for left and right channels to match the outputs of each channel so the VUs bounce around in tandem. The bluetooth functionality is fantastic as I can stream my music directly, I can't use my pre-amp when using bluetooth but it still sounds great none-the-less.

I wish I had not bought this stereo system.

I was looking for a basic CD stereo with bluetooth. I liked the look and the features of this one. When it works, the sound quality is just fine. But within a week or two, I started noticing that the CD motor hums when playing a CD. Also, the bluetooth is erratic - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Occasionally it adds a regular pause every 5 seconds that is maddening. Basically, this system doesn't work well. There is a frustrating hesitation when you push buttons, especially the eject button on the CD player.

Pretty much what I expected, though the speakers were smaller than I thought they would be... does what I wanted it to, sound is not spectacular, but its not bad!
