I bought a Mongoose fat bike last year, around the same price as this and it was only a single speed. Turned out to be a very creaky bike and I traded it in for a 29" Schwinn mountain bike. I wanted a fat bike again though, one that would work well for the money and came across this one. Wasn't sure how this would be but with 7 speeds, I was hoping it would be a good value for a majority of my riding. There isn't much for trails here and country gravel roads are mainly the choice, plus a nice paved bike path. All the gears were good out of the box except #7, as its a little out of adjustment and I'm not sure how to fix that yet. Other than that, it was easy to setup out of the box, since it was my first bike ordered online and one that I had to slightly assemble. I do like having some choice in speeds for taking on winds and hills. I can really cruise well, close to 20mph, with a wind behind me and on pavement. Most speeds are about 12-15mph on an average, depends on wind speed. Taken the bike for about 30 miles or so already total and its held up well. Very good value and 'starter bike' for the movement of 'Going Fat'. If you want an entry level on where to start and are afraid of buying a $1K to $3K fat bike, this is a good choice.
Very bad brake design. The brake rotoris only threaded to the wheel hub. The first time you brake hard, the rotor comes loose which causes the wheel to lock up.
Nice bike (eye catcher)After putting on some acc.
Every one says it looks 5 times more expensive than I paid.
Note: problem with front disc brake? The dealer (pacific)sent me a whole new wheel in two days.(color a little offf)
pretty easy to complete right out of the box.....rides nice....no complaints as of now....good buy for me
I got the bike on Saturday and I got to ride it for 2 hours before the chain broke. I took it in to the shop to get fixed and waited 3 days. When I got it back I had it for 5 hours and the chain broke again so I just took it back.
Nice bike but the brakes will not stop the bike so be prepared to dodge the obstacle.
This is a great entry level fat bike, you will not be disappointed with this purchase, i did not know how hard it would be pedal with such big tires, but to my surprise pedaling was very easy with the 7 speed shiftier,it rides so smooth over gravel and rough terrain, you could not even begin to ride a regular bike in the places i ride this one. i have read some reviews about the brakes being bad, my front brake did need adjusting when i put it together, but once that was done it brakes well.
