Whirlpool Made Kenmore Does the Job

I bought and installed this to replace a 1987 Whirlpool made Kenmore that finally had the tub rot through whereby it was not practical to fix. I had repaired that machine a few times over the 32 years my parents had it (my dad installed it originally with my uncle), but it was time for a new one. The repairs on the 1987 machine were minor: a couple of sets of door springs, a water inlet valve, and a heater element. That was it in 32 years and I did the repairs myself. Oddly enough, both the 1987 version and this one were both made in Whirlpool's Findlay, OH facility which is the top dishwasher plant in the country, if not the world. This one installed very easily and I like the features it has. I got it for 1/2 price with all the sales and online coupons. Overall, I'm very satisfied with it. I don't expect 32 years of service like the old one, but hopefully it will last a long time.

Caught fire inside!

This dishwasher was only 4 years old and it caught fire inside! We heard a couple of popping sounds and then horrible black smoke came out of it and a terrible smell of burning and electrical fire; we are still trying to get that smell out of the house two days later. It was not the heating element; that was not turned on. It was not the plug; that was fine. There was standing water in it when we turned it off. Lucky we were all home when it happened. Called the company and waiting to see if they will replace it. Kenmore used to be such a reliable product, this was a real surprise.

Nice Dishwasher, Lousy Service

This is a really nice dishwasher for the price. Large interior will accommodate large pots and pans as well as your dishes. It is fairly quiet; it is energy efficient, which is an oxymoron as it takes three and a half hours on the normal cycle!! How is THAT energy efficient!?!
I was charged more for shipping than I paid for the dishwasher, and it didnt include installation. I had to pay someone to install it. So, if you are looking for a reasonably priced dishwasher, my advice would be shop somewhere other than online to avoid the exorbitant shipping!
