I get a lot of frozen meals each month and I needed a small upright that would fit in my small apt but would also serve my needs, plus price was a big factor because I'm on a fixed income. I called every where and got on line and did a lot of research for over a month and I kept going back to Sears. They had a great size, cheaper than any body else, and had a great rating and cheap on the electric bill. It only took a few days to get it and It is even nicer than what it looked like on line. I have plenty of room and it's real quiet and works great! I would tell every body about this great freezer. Then belonging to the, "Shop Your Way" club I got enough points to get a nice top for myself. Yes, I'm real happy with Sears and my purchases. Thanks again Sears!
Worked great for about 2.5 years. Just to find out it's totally disposable. I understand it is inexpensive, but that was about $100 a year. The freezer cut out one afternoon and ruined quit a bit of stuff. The repairman took one look and said it isn't worth repairing. Save your money and buy a full size if you have room. At least they make sense to repair if they fail.
I purchased this refrigerator 2 yrs 7 1/2 mo. ago. I paid $280 for the freezer, $15 for install and $50 for a 2 yr extended warranty. The freezer died 7 1/2 months after the warranty expired.
I did a good bit of research on smaller freezers before buying. This one received good ratings (not great, but none of them did) and decent reviews. It is a great size for a laundry room. I was able to keep quite a lot of food in it.
This freezer was delivered to my home and set up for me. From the moment it was turned on until the day it died, it ran perfectly. I had no issues what-so-ever, which it why it got a 2 star rating and not a 1 star. It was very quiet and kept my food frozen - until yesterday.
I contacted Sears about a service call, expecting that it was out of warranty (I had not pulled out my paperwork yet). The representative explained that there would be a $89 service call fee + parts + labor. If I went with them, they would apply the $89 to the charge for parts and labor. They also offered a $20% discount. While this seems like an option to consider, it is still likely to cost about half or more of the price of the freezer for the repair, then I have a 2 1/2 yr old freezer. I'm planning to put this freezer out with the garbage and buy another (hopefully a much more reliable) one that is made in the USA not China. Sears used to be a trustworthy place to buy appliances and Kenmore used to be a reliable brand.
Disappointing.
This freezer gave us a much needed additional food storage resource in our smaller Cambridge, MA apartment. We have a smaller basement door (23" wide) and it fit perfectly down the stairs. It cooled down quickly and we were able to start storing food the next morning after it was plugged in.
This freezer has a small footprint but holds a lot. There's enough room inside for me to store all the deals I find at the grocery store, as well as the beef I bought in bulk. I'm also starting to cook and/or assemble meals in advance, so meals in the evening after work are easier. This fit the space, noise (it’s practically silent), and price constraints I set and I'm very happy with my purchase. I did my research online, and then went into the store to buy it. I want Sears to stay around a long time, and supporting my local store which hires from my community is important to me. The salesman was knowledgeable, personable and speedy. The freezer wasn’t in stock at my store but I drive by Sears a lot when I'm out so it wasn't a problem to swing by a week later for pickup. They carefully loaded it into my car and within 3 days it was turned on, and loaded up. Great purchase! Great store! Great brand!
Well worth the price. Perfect for freeing up room in main freezer.
I wanted a small freezer that would fit in the closet of my apartment. I love the size and it holds more than I really expected. LOVE IT!
