We've owned numerous high and low end vacuums but always ended up going back to our old Kenmore canister that actually did the best job. After 30 years it finally died and we were devastated using the other vacuums that all had their problems with performance. After researching the best canisters we found that Kenmore took position 2, 3 and 4 and was much more affordable than number 1. This is truly the best vacuum we've owned. Parts detach easily for switching between floors/carpets and curtains/walls. The Pet PowerMate cleaned the fine hairs from our dog off the scatter rugs with little effort. The stair grip is a great feature and takes the balancing act and muscle power out of trying to maneuver stairways without falling or dropping the vacuum. This vacuum is efficient and truly makes cleaning the house much more enjoyable. We hope we will have it for 30 more years.
Don't buy this beautiful looking vacuum! We wish we got this thing for free, then we wouldn't feel bad about giving it away! We really grow to hate it more each time we use it. It has 3 good points: 1 - Pretty color, 2 - Strong Suction, 3 - Good pet hair attachment (but bulky). However, it has a multitude of negatives. Whoever designed this thing was a short person who never vacuums. The handle is way too bulky, the crevice tool too short and has extra holes to REDUCE it's suction, the normal round brush is a big oval with bristles that are way to short to make it very useful for anything, the extending handle isn't long enough, the bare floor tool is way to small with a very constricted opening that makes lots of noise and the darn thing pivots so you can not use it on anything with any friction or it will roll under itself, the power head steers itself wherever it wants on carpeting making it a chore to use, and the front wheel seems to be made to run the canister into every piece of furniture you have because it never wants to follow you. Now, if I could just use the old pole, bare floor and round brush attachments from my old Kenmore (that I should never have gotten rid of) I would have been mostly satisfied. I wish I could have gotten a new hose for my 20 year old model that was much much more user friendly. Oh, I forgot, it is way too easy to bump the slider down to slow your suction down! That is one "Feature" I never seem to need!!! Now, we drag out the upright to do carpets and the shop vac when we need to use the brush attachment as the pieces with this vacuum are useless. I am currently shopping for a replacement, because after 2.5 years of struggling with this one, I have had it! And you can bet it won't be a Kenmore!
So difficult to change bags. You have to wrestle the hose out of the main body.
This vacuum is great! The carpet/floor option, the variable suction, the tools = it's awesome. The canister can get in the way when I'm pulling it behind me in a smaller space, but that's to be expected. I especially love the little grippers that keep it in place on the stairs. That combined with the tools that attach to the hose make cleaning stairs and vents a breeze.
Very disappointed with this vacuum. If I said it sucked, that would be a compliment. On the contrary, this thing just doesn't suck. My 20 year old Kenmore canister blows this on away. I also have a Hoover upright that cost under $100 new vacuums circles around this one. Not sure if I got a lemon? If I had to compliment it I can say it looks nice, I'm currently using it for a decoration. Thumbs down Sears for this purchase. Unfortunately I destroyed the box when I unpacked it or I would have returned it. My loss!
The Vacuum Beater Bar stopped rolling and the motor started to burn up smelling like on fire. Even after repair, this bar just wont hold into place and gets jammed. Spent a lot of money and just bought 50 bags. a real dissapointment.
This item was charged to my account and later credited to my account. The vacuum wasn't available but Sears charged me for it anyway. Later I tried to reorder and Sears said they no longer have this item available? Go figure, they didn't know it wasn't available but charged me anyway then they say it isn't available? I just don't get it.
