With your choice of auto and deep fill water levels, you control just how much water is needed for your next load of laundry.
A convenient dispensing system adds fabric softener to the wash basket at the opportune time – saving you the headache of having to add it in yourself.
All you have to do is turn a dial to select your preferred water temperature – cold, cool darks, cool lights, warm or hot – the choice is yours.
I bought this washer based on its high rating by Consumer Reports. Am extremely pleased with its performance.
We bought this washer because of its brand reputation but sad to say its was a really bad mistake. The spin cycle on this washer is awful, I actually thought that the machine was going to explode. We bought one and returned it for the exact same thing thinking it was a defective product but no, the same issue happened with the other new one. I would not recommend this washer at all. Great products at Sears but stay away from this one. We did buy another washer but totally different brand.
The worst investment ever. I just purchased this item in February.
The agitator broke!!! Never heard of a washer having a broken agitator. I had a whirpool washer from Conn's that lasted for 15yrs. I went to talk with Manager. He says they don't make things like they used to. Sad. Now I have to wait almost 2 weeks for the parts to arrive. I will not buy from Sears again. My husband has also buy tools from here but they always brake down. I bought the washer thinking I upgraded, but what they sell is junk.
We had a Maytag washer that had lasted for well over 30 years that died, so we needed a new one. We consulted Consumer Reports and this washer came highly recommended. We replaced our range a few years ago with a very nice, top of the line Kenmore that has performed extremely well, so we went for the Kenmore brand again.
Just received the washer and the delivery men installed it for us and removed the old one. These men were very efficient and knowledgeable, a rarity in this day and age. We were very impressed.
I then wanted to wash a load of clothes to try out the washer. Read the instructions and went to work. The clothes came out beautifully clean! What was very impressive to me was how QUIET it was! I read in some other reviews that it was very loud. I don't know if they have improved the washer since those reviews were written or what, but I could barely hear it working, so I don't think it is loud at all. This was on the normal setting, so maybe on others it is loud, but this will be what is usually used, so I doubt there will be much of a problem, if at all.
Very impressed and I would confidently recommend this washer.
This is my first HE machine; it has more choices than I need. I've been using the normal cycle, autofill, moderate soiling and cold or hot depending on the color. Clothes came out clean. The washing cycle didn't seem to be appreciably longer than the washer that it replaced.
If you are not used to a high-efficiency machine, you should read the instructions first! With my old (2001) washer, I would start the washer first, then put in detergent, then clothes. The washer would operate with the lid up in the fill/wash cycle. This method will not work with the 22242 model. The LAST thing you do is start the machine, because its auto-sensing adjusts the water level to your load, and if you have no load in the machine when you start it, I think it throws the sensors off. Also, it will not operate with the lid up, even during fill, and I would like to be able to watch the water fill and the wash cycle agitation. The first time I used the machine, I pushed the start before loading the machine, which was a mistake but easy to correct the next time. The low water level (which is supposedly normal) took some getting used to, but my load came out clean and fresh. I do not think the machine is excessively noisy; it is quieter than my old washer, so I am satisfied.
i am having bad soap stains on all my dark clothes. should i use a different detergent- use liquid tide/ use a second rinse cycle/ use a higher water level? it is on all my work clothes and i am having to redo them?? thanks
Our former machine was at least 30yrs. Old. I hope this one last half as long. We've had a Kenmore before and never had any trouble with. Machines have sure changed since we have bought a new one. I really like this one.
This machine makes so many loud sounds during cycles that I cannot start my laundry at bedtime. My routine has always been to wash a load of laundry each night when I go to bed, but this machine sounds like gears grinding and slipping. It makes popping noises and also sounds like someone is choking the Aflac duck. The customer service people told me this is all normal but I just cannot believe that anyone can be comfortable with this racket.
I've only had this machine a couple of weeks but I'm very happy with the performance. Clothes are clean and the spin cycle gets much more water out than my old machine. I can't say if it's quieter than other machines since my laundry room is two rooms away from the common spaces in my house -- I never hear it.
