With your choice of auto and deep fill water levels, you control just how much water is needed for your next load of laundry.
A convenient dispensing system adds fabric softener to the wash basket at the opportune time – saving you the headache of having to add it in yourself.
All you have to do is turn a dial to select your preferred water temperature – cold, cool darks, cool lights, warm or hot – the choice is yours.
If you are not used to a high-efficiency machine, you should read the instructions first! With my old (2001) washer, I would start the washer first, then put in detergent, then clothes. The washer would operate with the lid up in the fill/wash cycle. This method will not work with the 22242 model. The LAST thing you do is start the machine, because its auto-sensing adjusts the water level to your load, and if you have no load in the machine when you start it, I think it throws the sensors off. Also, it will not operate with the lid up, even during fill, and I would like to be able to watch the water fill and the wash cycle agitation. The first time I used the machine, I pushed the start before loading the machine, which was a mistake but easy to correct the next time. The low water level (which is supposedly normal) took some getting used to, but my load came out clean and fresh. I do not think the machine is excessively noisy; it is quieter than my old washer, so I am satisfied.
We bought this washer because of its brand reputation but sad to say its was a really bad mistake. The spin cycle on this washer is awful, I actually thought that the machine was going to explode. We bought one and returned it for the exact same thing thinking it was a defective product but no, the same issue happened with the other new one. I would not recommend this washer at all. Great products at Sears but stay away from this one. We did buy another washer but totally different brand.
Thank you injoying very much
I WOULD BE REMISS FOR NOT WRITING A REVIEW. THIS IS THE WORST WASHER...I HAD A KENMORE FOR 35 YEARS AND DECIDED TO STICK WITH SEARS, HOWEVER THIS IS HORRIABLE....NEVER ENOUGH WATER TO COVER THE CLOTHES TO WASH AND IS JUST TERRIBLE. IF IT WAS NOT A MAJOR JOB TO REMOVE IT AND SEND IT BACK, I WOULD. IT JUST MOANS AND GROWNS AND IS NOT A GOOD PRODUCT. I ONLY BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE THE SALESGIRL RECOMMENDED IT..AND I HAD SUCH GOOD LUCK WITH MY PREVIOUS MACHINE. WORST WASHING MACHINE EVER......
Bought because I thought it was similar to my old 30+ year old Kenmore (no bells and whistles). What a mistake! Have tried to get someone to help me with this HE model, on line and through "ask a question" here, but no one has replied. I have read the manual 4-5 times and STILL, when I try to do a Deep Fill, the water never fills! I cannot get use to the idea that a "cup of water" will actually clean what I consider to be a full, bulky load! Even with putting detergent in first, dark clothes come out with the soap scum residue. I do not have a dryer which, I guess, would remove the scum!!! When I try Deep Fill, an hour later it has done nothing and is in the Wash cycle. I then have to do a rinse and drain, which doesn't work and drain and spin. The technicians turned the first machine over and flooded my floor; they said it was a leak somewhere! Delivered this second one. Guess I will have to do the Auto fill for the rest of my life to actually get it to do a full cycle and hate it. What happens when the sensing board goes out! And I don't think I will ever be a happy camper with this!
Yeah, I got a Tide sample packet. The packet seems to be the one that is making the soap residue. Will stick with my liquid detergent. And definitely will not recommend this machine.
Has everything I need and then some. Very roomy!!
So far so good
