Sleek, Chic, and Quiet
I now understand how the negative reviews about poor cleaning are unjustified. The HE process with all brands leaves much more lint on the clothes than agitator machines which people have erroneously construed as dirt or poor rinsing. The lint removes quickly in the dryer and not only that but the clothes coming out of the dryer are even more lint free than clothes dryed from the agitator wash. I have seen no lint whatsoever on the dryed clothes and I have a cat with black & white fur so as weird as it seems, yes the clothes are very linty from the wash but it dissapears like magic in the dryer. And I haven't even used the liquid softener yet which should be even better than softener sheets. I checked other brands and it seems this is the nature of HE washes but it could be this model is worse with lint. If you like to hang your clothes instead of using a dryer, I can only assume that a front load washer would be better at this lint problem and probably stay away from HE top loaders period. I use the dryer for everything so the lint doesn't bother me and the amount of clothes I can do in one wash is fantastic so I am happy with this machine. Also, I think some people have put powder detergent in the liquid dispenser which is why they got residue as well.
DO NOT BUY this machine. This is the second machine we have tried and both have been faulty. The first Kenmore 28132 that we purchased from Searsoutlet.com in June 2016 did not fill with water at all. As we had already purchased the matching clothes dryer, we purchased a 2nd Kenmore 28132 from Sears.com. While this unit fills with some water, it does not fill enough to get all of the clothes wet. Clothes on the top can complete a full standard wash cycle and come out still dry. We have to run it on the "deep fill" and "bulky" items settings, along with 2 rinse cycles in order to attempt to clean the clothes. This eliminates any of the water saving features of the HE design. Even then, it still leaves soap residue on the clothes and does not do a good job of washing items. Once you are outside of the 30-day return window, Sears will not even take the item back on an exchange. They will insist that you have a repair technician come look at the machine. This machine is very overrated at a score of "69" from Consumer Reports.
Kenmore used to be good appliances but now I understand why they are going out of business. I Purchased this washer/dryer set 2 1/2 years ago. The dryer needed to be replaced within 6 months of purchase. The washer is now 3 months shy of 3 years and just quit. Needs a new motor and control module at the tune of around $700. NO THANK YOU SEARS. I AM SWITCHING TO SAMSUNG.
I told the salesman I wanted the washer with the biggest tub. Can wash a bunch of clothes in a load. Good buy!!
I don't understand the bad reviews. I love my washer! I tested several loads each one came out clean without any issues. At first I was a little concerned about the amount of water it uses. However, it does not affect the washing performance. I would absolutely recommend this Kenmore washer :)
