So far the washer has been excellent. We can finally wash a king comforter at home, which saves us money from having to bring it somewhere to get washed. Also, the amount of clothing we can get into the washer at one time to wash makes it a lot more efficient than having to separate each type of clothing into 2 extra piles just to get through the colors or the towels.
Clothes come out very wrinkled and very poor job of cleaning clothes. The clothes on the top of the load never agitate to the bottom. They stay on top and do not move. There is not enough water in a normal cycle to possibly clean the clothes. On the initial installation by Sears, the hot and cold hoses were not hooked up correctly, which led to know cold water. Very bad experience all around.
bought 7/7/2016, 2 years later control board replacement, $200 part + $200 labor; customer service said I should have bought service contract, if a company can't stand behind their products they don't deserve you for a customer. Look at the reviews, don't buy this washing machine
We previously owned a front load Samsung with steam. It did an amazing job washing our dirtiest laundry. The problem with it was mildew and odor, and loud bearing failure. We often used its steam feature so that was a big reason why we chose this Kenmore model, as well as hoping that the top loader would not have the same mildew and odor issues. After washing a few loads of clothes there were parts of my laundry that never even got wet, so I was already concerned about the cleaning performance of this washer. But after washing my children’s car seat covers (dirty but not filthy) on the highest soil level with prewash, oxiclean, and steam - they came out with crumbs and stains untouched by the two hour wash cycle. Sears exchanged for a Kenmore front loader at no additional cost to us.
I spent over $1000 on a washing machine that is rusting, getting rust on my sheets & clothes. After the entire morning on the phone with Sears & Whirlpool, they are not going to do anything. I am NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH SEARS AGAIN!
We purchased this washer and it's matching dryer three months ago, it has been working well until the glass lid exploded! The washer had not been used for several hours with no one around, we heard a loud crash and found the lid had shattered and sprayed glass chips all over the laundry room. Sears has agreed to replace the lid but there are none in stock. They are projecting a thirty day wait! I am finding more and more owners online that have a similar experience on a second and third replacement lid. DON'T DO IT!
