This vacuum is great. The only complaint I have is that it is quite heavy and pushing it around is tiring.
I have had this vacuum for several months now. I reviewed it on another site and originally gave it a 4 Star rating, but now am reducing it to a 2 primarily due to problems with the attachment hose. There are positives with the vacuum--I think it cleans the carpet well. In spite of what some people have said, I find that it is not hard to push. The bag is easy to replace. The report in Consumers stated that they found the vacuum to be noisy, but it is much quieter than my old vacuum. It it easy to switch from the "Carpet" to the "Floor" setting since it is done on the On/Off switch. The main problem is the attachment hose. It is extremely stiff and refuses to expand. I thought it would loosen up after using it for a while, but it has not. This makes using the attachments extremely difficult. If i am trying to vacuum upholstery, the vacuum falls over as soon as the hose needs to expand. If I am trying to vacuum the ceiling, it falls over (if I can even reach it). If I am using the attachment to vacuum the stairs, it is very difficult. I sometimes try to hold the hose near where it is attached to the vacuum so it will not fall over and the hose will expand some. However, that makes it very awkward to use. A less irritating feature is the handle to lift the vacuum. It is in the back rather than the front. This makes it difficult to use when vacuuming (my old one had one in the front, which was much easier to use). Then, it is hard to use when putting away because the cord wraps around this. This makes it hard to get a firm grip on the lift handle because the cord leaves little room to put your fingers. If I had known that the hose would not loosen up, I would have returned the vacuum immediately despite liking other features of the vacuum. Having to constantly fight and struggle with the attachment hose makes vacuuming even more than a chore than it should be. I really wish the designers/engineers would try using these products before they put them in mass production.
Recently ordered this Kenmore vacuum and we are very impressed with it...tremendous suction! There is definitely something to be said for bagged vacuums- they just pick up more and have better suction than the bag less type. Very pleased with the purchase. Always happy with Sears.
It may be Pet Friendly (fairly useless designation) but the unit is huge and unwieldy. Nowhere in the description I could find the actual size of the floor unit. It would not fit between most of the furniture in my relatively uncluttered apartment, and then you can't reach the farther areas and crevices since the tubing is rather short. Too large, heavy and not very user friendly at least in appearance. Would not recommend for occasional and frequent use if you are not up to carrying and dragging around a pretty large piece of industrial equipment. I have not found a suitable user-friendly apartment mixed use vacuum cleaner yet one but had to return this one at once. Sears was very nice about it. There are not that many Sears stores left around to go and actually look at what you are planning to buy, so there is some further detective work ahead!
Disgusted!!! Six months to the day, no suction due to the spinner brush not turning. Cleaned it regularly, but sat down to pick the few stands off the bar, as well as , ensured there was no clogs anywhere else. Still doesn't turn, does not pick up on any surface and Sears is useless!!! Basically, I need to take it to a repair shop on my dime, or buy a new one (all this with a warranty still in place.) I've recommended this model to friends and family because when it works, its amazingly awesome. However, once it stops, it's as useless as the junk WALL-E cleans up. I regret buying this, regret telling people to purchase it, and regret the time I put in researching this. I went off the reviews on Sears.com, as well as Consumer Reports, and still ended up with garbags. Stay far far away!!!
Quit twice and then starting running after awhile. Been running good since. This is our second one as the 1st one wouldn't start. Cleans great as long as it will last. Have to wait and see.
Best ever. Pulls up dirt from floor to carpet better than my Kirby and cost less. Love it!
Bought this as an secondary vacuum to help keep up with pet hair and so I would not have to lug my canister vacuum up and down the stair case. First use, is that it's quieter than my canister and although an upright, the attached tools are easy to use and handy too. It's a bit on the heavy side so do expect a workout if you do your whole house. It does a great job on pet hair and adjusts easily between carpet and my hardwood floors. So far very happy and glad I got it.
About 5 years ago I purchased a Kenmore Vaccuum similar to this if not the same. I bought it for 2 reasons. Consumer reports and the best price around. Other vacuums have come and gone but this just keeps going. No bells and whistles but it gets the job done.
