First, let me say do not hesitate buying this maker. It makes a great cup of coffee. It has the cone style gold filter - no need to buy filters. The only issue for me is the small water reservoir area makes it difficult to pour in the last bit of water. Now pay attention - their specifications are wrong. It is not 6.5" high. It is 13.5" high. It does not have 12 - 14 cups. It is 4-12 cups. It does have stop and serve, you can get coffee during brewing.
After reading all Great reviews I purchased the Stainless Model to go with my new Sears Elite Kitchen. Purchase date was Sept 30,2015 it stopped working May 3, 2016. It no longer will let the water flow through. cost more to fix it. and even though under warranty, I was tired of being transferred from person to person to person with no results. My time is worth more than this stupid coffee maker. Actual time of use late November to Early May Barley 6 months - 3 weeks vacation time so less than 5 months and not every day. If I could rate it less than 1 star I would.
Bought this item and within 7 months it broke. I called every number available and was finally told to bring it into sears for repair. All the sears have closed arouind me. I could not get anyone to help me. Be cautious before buying this coffee maker. So disappointed in Sears/Kenmore. Never again....
I ordered this to replace another inexpensive coffee maker I had for a long time. It arrived with broken plastic parts. It appears even cheaper than the last one I had. Returned. Will look for better quality.
