Took the cover off under my covered patio to fire up this grill on June 7, 2015. Flames shot up in the middle back, and almost no flames from the burner anywhere else on the cooking surface. the "stainless steel" burner is shot! I inspected the bottom and found the heat shield is paper thin, and already corroded through from drippings. Flames + non existent heat shield and propane tank do not mix. I called Sears and found out I was 1 month out of warranty at 13 months. The burner and shield are warranted longer, but you have to pay for a tech to come out and prove it is broken-$90, or you can buy a service contract for $100. All on a substandard item that has lasted 13 months undercover, and under a patio! Shame on Sears putting the Kenmore name on such a poor item, then trying to steal money from me to replace a warranty item! Don't get ripped off like I did-go to any other store and buy something else. Don't play into the service contract scam-$100 on a $199 grill? Items should be made to last.
We love our grill! It took awhile to put together 4 1/2 hours. Next day, their we were grilling steaks, corn on Cobb!! Backyard cooking, nothing like it.
Works great. No problems with performance. It could have a few hooks to hang utensils from but other than that, it is a geat grill.
Mom and I really wanted to surprise Dad this Christmas, as he had always been so good to Mom. We put this on layaway and was able to pay it off before Christmas. Well, a few days before Christmas it turns out that these grills were so popular, that there was a shortage, and it wouldn't arrive from the distribution center until after the New Year. Well, customer service at my Sears has always been first rate, and this was no exception. The associate refunded the layaway, and was able to get us the last one, the floor model, they had. Sears saved Christmas. The grill is excellent, heats and cooks evenly, and the side burner is unbelievable. Dad couldn't be more happy.
