We bought what we thought was a fairly nice grill from one of the big box store about three years ago and it is already toast. We decided to take a look at almost every grill known to man before buying. This is the one we ended up with and are very happy with it. It is completely Stainless and is not the cheap stuff. The burners can each be started on their own with the electronic ignition system. (not the push spring type but the battery operated kind) The searing unit works great. I have never used one of these before. It gets extremely hot to sear the meat before you move it to the regular grill. The flame tamers and burner tubes are also made of heavy stainless. Both the top warming rack and the grill grates are really heavy. I can tell this grill will last. As for cooking, I noticed no hot spots and it gets hot really fast. After looking at so many grills this is the only one in this price range that is all stainless....I opted to put it together myself and it took about an hour and a half. If I had it to do over again I think I would take advantage of the free assembly service. We added a cover for $37. We bought it on line at the store to save $20
I ordered this grill for my mother in law, online since in the description it said "All Stainless Steel". This was the most important feature to me as the mixed metal units rust out quick. During assembly I noticed the backs of the doors and the bottom of the lid are galvanized steel. It looked like the bottom of the grill box was made of regular steel painted silver to look like stainless. If this grill was actually all stainless I would have give it a 4 or 5 stars, but for the money it is not a good value as it is not 100% stainless. Sears needs to change their description as the way it stands now it is false advertising. I would have sent it back, but my mother in law said she would just keep it.
I purchased this grill just over 2 years ago and like everyone is stating it is starting to fall apart despite always being covered. The stainless coated grates are peeling(The searing one after the 2nd use!), the temperature gauge quit working after 3 months, and the stainless burners that were supposedly warrantied for 10 years are already rusted and burnt out to the point that you cannot control temperature. At least I didn't waste my money on the warranty...from everyone's description of the warranty, it is as bad as the grill.
Have to give it one star. Planned on grilling over the Memorial Day weekend. Put grill together, easy to assemble. Proceeded to cook ribs. Hard time controlling heat, either very hot or not hot enough. Temp gauge is useless. During burn down grill caught on fire, completely engulfed in flames. Extinguisher needed, cleaned up grill looks like it was 10 years old. Ruined the weekend. Cheap stainless steel grill not worth the price. Flimsy plastic knobs, grates, and deflectors not true stainless steel. Made in China.
I had hoped this grill would last longer but the grease tray, stainless grates and stainless flame tamers fell apart in less than 2 years. Grill was covered and maintained well. None of those parts are covered by their Extended Warranty even though the sales person might say they are
The grill began flaming up the front of the cover e=where it meets the grill body on the third use. Called for in-home service which I paid for at time of purchase. Was told it would be a month before anyone could come to look at the grill. When I responded asking how I should go an=bout returning it since it was a holiday weekend coming up and the beginning of summer, I was hung up on by the "service" rep.
