I purchased this grill as a gift for my husband, who had his eye on a Webber. Being the thrifty one, I opted for a Kenmore. My dad has owned a similar model for over 5 years and has been pleased. Upon initial inspection, I was relieved when my husband commented on the grill being well-made... he was rather impressed! Unfortunately, it didn't get very hot - extending cooking time significantly. We've only used it once so far and the performance is OK. Pros: price point, appearance, well-built, preassembled/ excellent Sears customer service. Cons: low temperature = long cooking times
I purchased a similar unit 4 years ago and then one more for my son 2 years ago. I've kept it covered. The electric start failed within months and the replacement unit failed again within a few months. My sons just failed as well. I replaced my burners and delector plates 2 years ago and did some modifications to mount them where the burners rest, as it rusted out. The sear won't even work anymore. I've cleaned out the pan and the burners regularly and they just don't hold up. The pan is not removable so cleaning it is difficult, and it is also rusting out. Last night the controls melted during a typical burn off and I had to shut the propane off. Not worth fixing anymore. Frankly, I would not buy another like it and/or put myself at risk again to the unit blowing up. Seriously a bad product.
