Purchased this grill after exhausting research, Basically the same grill as C.R. ******** recommendation only in enameled red. Took ~ 2 hrs to assemble however all that is needed is a phillips head screwdriver. There is one thing I did different then the instructions and that is lowering the back brace using only 2 screws instead of the 4 in order to have quick easy removal of the drip pan. Having said that this grill heats very quickly and the porcelain coated cast iron grates are easy to clean and one of its best features in a grill of this price range. 2 things I recommend.... 1.) before cooking anything spray grates with Pam spray or equivalent this helps make them more non stick (much like grandma's cast iron frying pans) and 2.) Cover the drip pan with Aluminum foil this helps with clean up and also protects the aluminum drip pan from being eaten up by the juices and salts from your grilling, and the Aluminum foil is much easier to replace then hoping to find another drip pan
Great LOOKING grill but grills are all about the burners and this grill has problems - burners never get really hot, and the searing burner that is supposed to glow red hot like an electric space heater , shot out flames and made a very strange noise when used - I don't trust this burner and fear that it will explode. This is the second exact model I purchased- one in Ct in 2012 and one in FL in 2013. The first one had the searing burner blow after 11 months and Sears was great at sending out a repairman and ordering the part but it took several weeks and a error in ordering to actually get the correct part- by that time winter set in and I never really tried the replacement. The newest purchase surprised me because the searing burner immediately started out faulty- shooting up flames instead of actually being a glowing hot burner- and that noise- very strange- Shame on me for trying the same grill with Sears!
Had the BBQ less than 2 years before the interior tray started to deteriorate. By 2 1/2 yrs it was gone. Can't use anymore.
Model 146.16142210 four burner w/side burner Stainless exterior.
Purchased summer of 2014.
The grease pan has turned to crumbly rust. The burners are starting to go.
Why would Kenmore designers made parts of the exterior out of stainless steel and then make the drip tray out of really cheap steel?> We purchased a cover also to keep the grill from the weather.
Sears parts direct charged me $30.00 for a new one.
If I worked for Sears/Kenmore, I wouldn't put that brand name on this unworthy piece of equipment
It RUSTS and falls apart fast. Looks nice at first but please read all the terrible reviews about the RUST. It RUSTS even though I kept it covered and under a roof. It was out of the elements in S Florida. It fell apart at 13 months, conveniently after the 1 year warranty. UGH!!!!! Never buy a piece of RUST junk from Kenmore ever again. POS products from Sears!!!!!
bottom rusted out heat def rusted away grill grids rusted in one year after being covered by sears best cover which cracked in one year so useless grill only 2 years old will be throwing away
