I wanted a refrigerator without an icemaker. I did not want to deal with the possibility of water leaks.. I know a large family would think differently. I bought my last refrigerator May 5, 1991. It is like having a 1991 vehicle to a 2017 vehicle. I would want one more, refrigerator and freezer shelf. It did not come with a ice cube holder or tray bracket. I'm sure ******* will have this. The experience at the store in Northridge, CA and the delivery was seamless, knowledgeable, pleasant and professional. It is sad that the company Sears Holding, is cannibalizing a business model, that was the ****** of the 1800's and 1900's. This is an example of Corporate greed at its ugliest.
Product - 5 STARS - seems to work fine - it's only been 2 days. Pizza does fit in freezer horizontally. Wanted this item because it's for extra storage and didn't want ice-maker occupying space for food (love to stock up on groceries when they are on sale). Delivery was very very poor. The two men refused to unpack and set up refrigerator. They claim their ticket didn't specify set up - only delivery - which was set up online by me. There was no option regarding setup and carry away packaging online. I also called customer service to confirm the day before and he did not mention anything about set up and removing packaging. Quite upset. Called manager of local Sears and should hear back tomorrow from appliance manager. One positive - we paid an extra $15 to receive delivery within a 4 hour time period versus an all day 9 hour wait, and item was delivered on time.
I really like this fridge, but wish I had stayed with my original choice of black. However, I just had to try stainless since it's all the rage in kitchen décor. Having sold appliances (for Sears) for many years, I had heard the negatives and positives about stainless. I felt I could control the fingerprint issue by wiping often ... and, call me crazy, but by keeping a soft towel hanging from the handle and using it to open/close. It has worked like a charm, and I really haven't had to deal too much with the smudges. My husband even got on board with that strategy and has kept his paws off of the stainless. Speaking of paws, though, our puppy (that arrived on scene a few months after receiving delivery of the fridge) has managed to do a job on the bottom of the fridge with her wet nose, and in spite of wiping down there whenever I can, streaky-looking stains are present. I'm so sad, but love the puppy too much to be mad. It's not something people would notice and say, "Wow! What happened to your fridge?" But we do notice it. Luckily it's on the bottom. I imagine the grade of stainless isn't the best, considering the great value, so keep that in mind if you choose the stainless. As for the fridge's performance, it couldn't be better. We had to buy one because our 3-year old fancy-shmancy $3500 French door, double bottom drawer crapped out on us! Now THAT made me mad! So ... no more water feature, ice maker, or anything high-tech for us! We bought it for our newly renovated condo ... what a mistake! (BTW, the fancy-shmancy no-agitator topload washer "went" just a few months after that ... but that's another story!!!). The fridge is cold ... freezer is freeeeezing; space inside is good --fits a lot! Limited light in freezer, but not a bid deal for me. I love NOT HAVING a water feature or ice maker. It's so easy to just stick a bunch of ice trays in there (top shelf -- perfect spot for them) -- and refill a small tub kept inside the freezer. No worries about the ice maker going down (which also happens often with fridges today -- remember, I sold appliances so I know!). Also no worries about the water feature leaking for some reason and flooding 13 floors below us! Besides, nothing on the outside doors give the fridge such a sleek appearance. Oh, I should mention that on humid days, the freezer will cause a bit of moisture on the inside freezer door and possibly a very small puddle of water inside the track of the bottom door, freezer side. Not very often, but it has happened. An easy fix with a quick wipe down the door and along the bottom inside. It's the extreme humidity causing it so I don't fault the fridge. All in all, it's a great and nice-looking fridge. Hoping not to jinx myself, but I can't wait until this one goes down so I can get the black one that I actually purchased and cancelled 5 minutes later to replace with the stainless. Yes, I would/will definitely buy it again! BTW, it's a Whirlpool product!
Good price for a large, basic Fridge. Shelves are a bit cheap, Stainless steel shows marks from the most mild scrapes or rubs. It's not high end but does it's job, has lots of space, and is at a great price.
We were looking for a simple side-by-side refrigerator/freezer as a secondary unit. This had no frills like an ice maker or water dispenser, so it was ideally suited for our needs when our 20 year old side-by-side refrigerator/freezer quit working.
I bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator 2 years ago and recently it broke down. I called Sears to have it repaired and they took 3 weeks to send out a repair person. The repair man said it was the compressor and that he had order the part. Then two weeks later another repair man came out and said the valve was bad. Now two months later the refrigerator is still not fixed. The repair man is scheduled to come three weeks from now. Don’t buy the warranty from Sears unless you don’t mind waiting 3 months to get a refrigerator fixed.
