I bought this and matching dryer 81182 due to the Consumer Reports recommendation. Love. Stacked them up. Took me a while to learn only 1 TBLS of detergent (HE of course) - or less for small load! Yes, I measure it. :-) You can do spin only by turning on and not selecting anything with the dial and then picking your spin speed. I often use the bulky option as it uses more water although it's not as efficient. As a newbie I still like to see some water in the bottom of the washer when it's cleaning. Bulky won't go above medium spin speed. So I'll wash with that and then take out items I'm drip drying and then do the spin only at high so less dryer time. I regularly do the extra rinse as well. Love that I can preselect that option. I had a 30 year old Kenmore washer which was still going strong when it outlasted the second dryer and I decided to get the stacked set. It was a bit sad to see it go but I love this new washer even more. Washes great. And now I can do the big comforter at home.
This washer does not drain properly. Clothes come out soaking wet. Sears home services came out 3 times to repair. The last time was to replace the pump. This did not work. This washer is not engineered to work with a drain above the washer so if you have a basement laundry room do not buy this product. It will not drain properly
Read a review where the drum broke on a machine within two months, Mine did the same. Have been waiting for parts for months with no in stock date on when the part will be available. Customer service has been no help thus far, just keep telling me someone will contact me from parts, but no one does.
Just bought this washer and washed 4 loads 3 colors and 1 white. The washer only puts a small amount of water in the beginning and them small amounts throughout the wash cycle because it only puts a small amount of water then waits several minutes until the next small amount by the time the clothes get wet enough the soap and bleach gets completely dissipated. All four washes left normal stains on my colors and whites that every washer is have every owned for the last 30 years cleaned. I had a minor food stain on only of my shirts, should be no problem but the stain was still there after the wash. I have never had stains left on my whites when using bleach with all previous washers. I seems to be a design flaw because the washer only fills up with a very small amount of water to the point that the clothes don't even get wet until 5 to 6 minutes later and by then the soap has dissipated.
Washer bearing went out literally two weeks after the 12 month warranty expired. Repair costs were only $100 than replacing the whole thing with a new one. Sears support could have cared less, and refused to offer any support or to stand by their product. I would steer clear from any Kenmore branded appliances and take my business to other retail firms that actually provide support that isn't based out of the Philippines. Read up on what it's like to get support, and there's a reason they are selling you the extended warranty. you will need them. Save yourself the money, and go buy an LG or Samsung. At least they will stand behind their products when something breaks. Customer service is worth a lot, but in the eyes of Sears they really don't care too much about the customer. This may be one of the reasons that 2018 will be the end for them. Good riddance, and now off to buy a new washer since this one is junk. Stay away and do not buy.
I'd give it 0 stars but that unfortunately isn't an option
have to use a washing machine knock arrester on cold and hot water lines 10 bucks a piece at homedepot ,a little plummers grease on the rubber washers to avoid leaks 2 bucks.like all my computerized stuff avr ups that never goes below 100v and has surge protection 100 bucks.premium washer.so quiet so smooth
