Six months ago, we had remodeled our kitchen. The contractors ran new wire for all the appliances we purchased from Sears. The contractor had the stove top installed quickly. The unit does a great job cooking. You will have to get use to it. We have had both electric and gas stove tops in the past and this is so much better. Don't believe the stories that you can touch the cooktop immediately and it will be cool. Nothing is ever "cool". You won't get burned, but it isn't cool. Purchasing new pots and pans can be a real treat. We went with the Avalon brand and it works great. They are expensive. We tried the Kenmore brand, but the non stick isn't really non stick. Highly recommend this unit.
Purchased 5 years ago and it no longer works. Had Sears service come out and they found the filter board had gone bad. $1,400+ to fix it. Paid 1,500 for the unit in the first place. Also LEDs have gone bad on it too so some elements are hard to read. Can't even find parts to replace those. Pretty crappy stuff. Cannot recommend anyone buy one of these.
I've owned this for just over a year. I loved it at first. Then about 9 months in the largest burner stopped heating properly. It wouldn't get the "power" surge and then stopped heating hardly at all. Thankfully we bought the extended Sears Warranty...but so far they have spent more in parts and labor than the unit cost or is worth. They have replaced every part in this unit and it STILL does not work. IT is a LEMON. DO NOT buy this unit.
I purchased the Kenmore induction cooktop, along with a double oven, fridge and dishwasher for my brand new remodeled kitchen. I was so excited when the day came for the electrician to install the oven and cooktop. However the cooktop wouldn't work once installed. It gave a error message. I immediately contacted sears and they scheduled a repair man to come out on a few weeks. The repair man advised that I needed a new part. He ordered the part and scheduled a few more weeks out to return and install. Well, after waiting, the new part was installed and the cooktop still has the same error code. The new sears repair technician advised that he wasn't sure what the problem is and he could only order more parts and hope that these parts would fix the issue. I'm going onseveral months now with no cooktop, the cooktop has never even been used once. Sears refuses to just replace the faulty merchandise until there has been 7 visits by their repair tech. At this rate I'll be lucky to have a working cooktop within a year! I will never buy from Sears again. It seems ridiculous that they would spend thousands of dollars in technicians calls to my home and parts for a unit that cost $1000 new. It could have been replaced in the beginning, I would ha e been happy and sears would have saved a lot of money.
Quality looks great! Haven't used it yet because we are still remodeling.
I'm really happy with my purchase
Thank you sesrs
I had this cook top for about 9 months as of Nov, 2016. First of all I like the modern look of the cooktop. Because of all touch pad control, it make the cooktop very easy to clean. Many guests had asked me where I got this cooktop because of its modern look and I always keep it clean. Second, the performance is great, it literary boiled water the moment I turn it on. It is much faster than microwave or my water boiler. It saves a lot of time when you have to cook big pot of food. Because it heat up really fast and hot, you have to be careful not to put it in maximum power mode to prevent overcook your food, especially when frying. As other has review, it sometime makes buzzing noise, but I very minor, and I think it because of the induction heating. Furthermore, I like to hear the buzzing to know that the pan is being on high power so I know to lower it when it hot enough. Overall, I recommend this cooktop and any induction cooktop, because it energy efficient, easy to clean, and you don't have to wait for the top to cool down to clean as in radiation cooktop.
