I've been looking everywhere for a new humidifier for my bedroom, but most of the reviews I've read on line turned me away. I purchased two from a big box store and returned them both because of the poor quality and high level of noise. I've had a Kenmore unit in my living room for years and decided to see what Sears had. I knew I chose the right one the minute I turned the unit on. Just the right amount of "white noise" to help me sleep at night. Features include 3 speeds for a manual setting, 3 speeds for an automatic setting and a timer. More than I will ever use. I'm sure this will last as long as my older unit and will run just as well. I love this machine!!! Would highly recommed it to anyone.
I ran it several nights without issue. Then it wouldn't raise the humidity above 21 according to the read-out and said the filter needed changed. I removed it and turned it over and it ran for one night (about 8 hours) and again indicated filter needed changed and wouldn't show a reading above 21. Seems like you would probably have to replace the filter at least once a week to have it function properly. I'm ordering one new filter to try again. If it performs the same way again, it will be in the trash. It's also a bit louder than I expected.
I have bought others in the past that just seem to do "ok". This one I can actually tell a difference when I wake up. My sinuses aren't as dry anymore...I was waking up to a nose bleed most mornings...but not since turning this one on. I usually keep it on 40 to 45....depends on the temperature outside as to how much a/c runs.
I don't like to write a negative review but this humidifier lasted less than 5 weeks before it started to leak and not put out moisture. I thought maybe it was the filter but the new filter actually had a foul odor to it almost immediately. None of this was due to lack of cleaning. I tossed the whole thing right out as this quickly became a very time consuming problem. I also payed full price for it and the very next week it was on sale 50% off but that's the way it goes sometimes.
