I purchased this grill to replace it's near identical "cousin" - the Master Forge L3218. I love the side and rear searing burners that both grills offer. The Master Forge is no longer manufactured and after 6 years I wasn't able to find all of the parts that had rusted out. I wanted a grill with the same features (especially the side searing burner) & this Kenmore was the only option I could find. The Kenmore assembly was pretty straight forward assuming you follow the instructions (I also converted the grill to natural gas which added time but was easy enough if you follow the instructions step-by-step). The Kenmore grill is noticeably lighter in weight than the Master Forge. Magnets stick to the "stainless" parts, so I'm curious how long this grill will hold up over time. The lighter weight and questionable grade of the stainless (due to the magnetic draw) is why I gave this grill a 4-star rating. Functionally the grill works great. All burners fired up the 1st try after assembly. The side searing burner is just as good as the Master Forge and provides an excellent way to sear steaks. Yes, there is a gap at the rear of the hood (by design) so heat & smoke can escape the main cooking area as other reviews indicated. BUT - you can certainly learn to make the most of it. I've been able to get the temperature up to 400+ degrees. At times I will use 2 smoker boxes (1 over each burner on the ends) and have had good success smoking meats. However, this grill is NOT a smoker by design so if that's a primary function I'd look elsewhere (there are gas grills out there with built-in smoker boxes and have lids that seal - OR I'd suggest a Charcoal Smoker for maximum flavor). Time will tell how long this holds up - I have my fingers crossed (but also have my doubts)...
Design defect does not allow grill to heat up beyond 300 degrees. Air gap across back of closed lid and box lets all the heat escape even with all 5 burners on high! This grill doesn't live up to Consumer Reports recommendation!!! I've already arranged for grill return and full refund from Sears after just one attempt to cook chicken breasts! Clearly not worth the almost ~$700.00 cost. Very disappointed in Sears and it's Kenmore brand!
I had a BBQ Similar to this one, so this is why I purchased it I do like it so far. The only thing it does say it has rotisserie burner however there are no attachments for the barbecue to hold the rotisserie spit. I had to order them separately. Also the rotisserie burner it’s self is really only about 9 inches long a little small but I’m used to.
Beautiful looking grill. Put together quite easily. BUT, guess what? The grill with "rotisserie burner" in its product name no longer comes with the rotisserie grill kit to make it into a rotisserie grill. I am now going to try sourcing a universal rotisserie grill kit and see if that fits. I'm installing the natural gas conversion kit now. have Sears Customer Service on the phone now. Lovely calming, classical music... Back to you shortly.
I bought this grill 3 months ago with master protection plan, as stainless steel, under the promise of good quality, but after 3 months the grill rusted badly, when I call customer service I was surprised to find out that rust is not covered under the manufacturer warranty or the master protection warranty.
The worst part is the customer service and the integrity of SEARS where they sell you an expensive items with warranty and they do not honer their words.
I would not recommend anyone to buy this grill in fact or any other items from Sears.
This was the worst experience I have ever had! I ordered this BBQ expecting to get a Natural gas BBQ grill assembled and connected. What I got was a poorly put together Propane BBQ the wires were dangling down, the vents were not even put together and the delivery team is not hired to put things together. They are an outside vendor that does not care! My party was in two days and NO BBQ to cook with!
I am pleased with this purchase. It has a clean look, not something that needs to be covered up after every use. I have been using this Kenmore 5 Burner Grill for two months now.
Some of the features i like are the double sided wheels on both ends of the grill. It is easy to move away from the siding while grilling and then move back after it cools down. Ignition with the Flip of a switch. Lastly the side burner that works great for my rectangular flat skillet to cook veggies on.
It took about 40 minutes to assemble this unit and am happy with how easy it is to clean and remove the drip trays.
I would reccomend this grill to anyone that hosts a lot or has a large family. Great features with a quality brand.
