There is no great dehumidifier any more.

I purchased this unit because the one I got from sears in Nov of 2013 failed. At that time 5 year protection was $50.00, a good deal since I have not had a dehumidifier last move than two years. All makes are junk at best, It's a great waste of material the way these are made. The protection plan is now $90.00 for 5 years, not a very good deal. If you are lucky and get two years out of one then $180.00 will all most buy a new unit. I have had every make there is, NONE last. My first one from 1974 made by the real Westinghouse lasted 20 plus years and still worked, but was rusting and fan motor was very noisy. I should have repaired it. A Sears Kenmore is as good as any out there, so shop price and do not count on it lasting.

Didn't work like the older models

Owned a 40 pt. Kenmore that worked great for over 30 years ... was an excellent product. Finally gave out. Replaced it with the 50 pt. It's been running for a few days in the cellar and it does not do the job like the old one did! It's going back. Our cellar is not wet either. It just feels damp from all the humid weather we've had. I'm going to return it. Very disappointed with it. FYI - when I was purchasing it the salesman told me we would be lucky to get 2-3 years out of the new one. He said they don't last like the old ones. Obviously, they don't dehumidify like the old ones either!

Worked for EXACTLY two years - the the fan stopped

Repair cost will be nearly the same as replacing - but won't buy a Kenmore again

Pleased

Easy directions, quiet, and seems to be removing humidity from the air. Perhaps I should have purchased a dehumidifier with a larger capacity, however.

Great

|

It seems to be working very effcently and quiet. I believ the musty smell is leaving the basement. The saleman at the Sears store was very kind, not pushy and was very informed regarding this dehumidfier. He suggessted the 50 gal being our basement is the size it is ad due to the fact it does have a musty smell. I would recommend this product to my friends and famiiy

Best Dehumidifier Overall

|

This is without a doubt the best dehumidifier I've ever owned. It's efficient, quiet, nice looking & easy to use/maintain. It keeps the basement cool, dry & comfortable no matter how damp, humid or the rainy the weather is. There's an immediate difference in the air in the first few minutes after it's turned on. Complete satisfaction with this appliance.

doesn't work like I thought it would.

|

I took it downstairs, took out the plug and put in the part, so the water would come out a hose. I then attached the hose, being sure that it had no flat areas. No water came out of the hose. The bucket filled up, so I had to empty it, I've emptied it several times & it has decreased the humidity in my cellar.
