We bought this for our new home we built. Have had it 1.5 months now. It was delivered on time with great service. Started making ice only a few hours after being plugged in. The space is very usable, much more so than other brands and models we looked at. My favorite aspects are the large deli drawer, door shelves for gallon storage, and in door icemaker. It really does open up the rest of the freezer, and the pyramid ice really packs well so that it holds a lot of ice in a small space. I still haven't ever filled either fridge or freezer side - there is tons of space. Highly recommend this fridge.
Luckily the great people at my Hometown Sears are working with me to return this refrigerator. The fan for the air filter is so loud and annoying I can hear it in my bedroom! And it runs practically ALL THE TIME! There is no way I can live the next 10 years with this refrigerator, so back it goes! If you live in house where you enjoy the quiet and solitude, don't have the TV running all day long and you value your sanity you will skip this refrigerator. After finding out what a huge mistake I made with this item I have come to learn through my quest that quiet refrigerators don't really exist anymore. There are many web articles and forums that focus entirely on finding a quiet fridge in the 21st century. Evidently, the extra noise comes from all the extra bells and whistles that are equipped on the fridges these days. It's pretty sad when you can purchase a dishwasher that is so quiet you can't even tell it's on when it runs to only be driven insane by a noisy refrigerator! Why can't manufacturers put as much attention into creating a quiet fridge as they do the new dishwashers? After reading many comments on the internet, the manufacturers really should be listening. Another problem is if you ever drink out of a smaller drinking cup you will have problems with the design of the water and ice dispenser. The water dispenser basically sticks out past the rim of my glass and I have angle it outward while trying to push the dispenser in the right place to barely catch the water. Also, the ice is a mess with a smaller glass. It tends to go everywhere. The layout and shelves of the fridge are nice and the ice cubes are nice size and shape. Other than that, I just don't have much good to say. Hoping the LG I picked to replace this is a better choice for me. They tend to rate well for low noise levels.
I have had the ice maker fail 3 times in less than two years because of a design flaw. Sears blames it on Whirlpool because it’s their parts, and Whirlpool says Sears designs them and assembled them so it’s their fault.
Meanwhile I am stuck in the middle getting nowhere with a less than two year old refrigerator I spent $1300 on that isn’t good for much more than a paper weight.
I AM DONE!! I have spent $1,000’s of dollars over the past 20 years with their organization and have always been treated fairly until now.
One time could be understandable. 2 times raises concern. 3 times, establishes a pattern.
Do I really have to convince you to allow me to pick a different refrigerator? It’s not 10 years old. It’s 23 months old. And to expect an accommodation for a different fridge in the same price range is a more than reasonable resolution.
But just because I haven’t purchased your extended warranty, I am given no consideration. I shouldn't have to buy an extended warranty to get my fridge to last passed the first year.
The wiring harness for the ice maker runs through the base of the fridge and across a metal foot that applies pressure to the wiring. Every time the door is opened and closed this foot saws into the wires eventually causing the wires to fray at the stress point and subsequently caused the ice maker to short out.
THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE RECALLED!!
STAY AWAY FROM:
I am confident this will fall on deaf ears as no one including Ameesia Kenebrew at corporate is willing to take care of me.
I will make sure that everyone everywhere knows the experience I have had with Sears.
With customer service like this, I now understand why they fell into Bankruptcy.
I have had many problems with Ice Making.
Now I realize that the electric wires that go to that part (Make Ice). The area where the door is opened and closes in the bottom, near the gutters all split. And is not supposed that split so fast
Thank god, I got the extended master protection plan. the Company is now giving me a new refrigerator. They have replaced almost everything in the refrigerator. from both doors to the control panel boards to the ice maker, everything, Don't buy this item
SEARS Side-by-Side 51764 (10651764 510) Bought FEB 2017, Completely Failed AUG 2018. Freon leaked out, smelled terrible, unit will not stay cool, and I lost ALL CONTENTS! Rediculous for a 1 - 1/2 year old frig!!! The appliance industry in under too much regulation, and it's causing complicated appliance building that is basically ****!!
More useful space than my previous fridge, lots of LED lights, excellent energy efficiency. You don't really need that $10 hose they'll make you buy - reuse your old one. Ice cubes sometimes miss the glass. Otherwise, very nice
