First off I loved my old Kenmore Elite that was 9.5 yrs old. The cooling fans gave out in the refrigerator side only, freezer was fine though. Could've opted to fix for 300.00 but we decided to get a bigger one since we could use the extra space. So now on to the new Kemore. We only have had this new refrigerator for 2 weeks now. I like the simplistic design, looks easy to care for, Ice is small, and love the Grab N Go Door and looks nice, Its quite, seems to run like a Cadillac. My only negative review would be that the cooling design in refrigerator section doesn't seem to be cold enough. First 24 hours I had to adjust the temperature from 37 to 36 degrees F and even that doesn't seem to be cold enough....and grab n go door section my drinks are not cold enough for me.....also the Ice Maker doesn't seem to be able to give me Full Capacity of Ice ... I am in 30 day trial period and thinking I may return this one for a KENMORE ELITE my old one was THE BEST. So if I wasn't experiencing the negatives I mentioned, I would definitely keep it. Hope Sears can work on those improvements that I mentioned because it would be 5 star otherwise. I ONLY KNOW FOR SURE KENMORE ELITE IS THE BOMB REFRIGERATOR...
The bad, The half door is nice ,bbut at times gets jammed when trying to open because the plastic inside part of the door jams on the side. Trying to keep the door clean is not easy they should not have used standard paint. Between the finger prints and the water running down you better buy paper towels by the case. We have had issues where the ice maker stopped working due to the switch not being on and it is hard to figure out when it is on. It makes slight noise but not bad. Scratches easy and shelving is not movable. We had to have it serviced because the water stopped coming out, It turned out to be frozen inside the fridge. No place to put eggs or butter The good, Love the half door fits all my sauces, Keeps food cold, Fits items great as long as they are not large. The main issue is they need to use a vinyl on the front door
the problems started after one year, and we had a repairman out 7 times in a two year period.
DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY!!!
If you do, get the extended warranty because the compressor went out on mine's just after a year. (After factory warranty) and this refrigerator's warranty is only for a year for the compressor. Why? Cause they know it;s junk!! Look's cute but looks are deceiving! Repair man told me they were having problems with these refrigerators compressors, so Sears knows about it! My feelings are deeply hurt as all my major appliances are from Sears. Most refrigeratos compressors have at least 5 to 10 yrs warranty. Not this one. Why? Cause it's junk and they know it!
The only issue I have is the water fill on the door, the fill tube is to short. Its hard to fill water bottles or regular cups with ice without a lot of splashing. We are alwats wiping the door off. Other than that, its great.
I've owned this refrigerator for 38 months and the compressor has failed. My repair guy says the LG compressors always fail within 4.5 to 5 years, and replacements are identical meaning another expected failure within 4.5 to 5 years. This is a very expensive repair. I regret this purchase.
Other bad stuff: the water dispenser was designed by someone who has never gotten water from a refrigerator before. The dispensing nozzle is about 1/16 of an inch in front of the activation panel meaning you physically cannot get water from this without it spilling all down the back everytime. When you pull the cup away from the panel, it doesn't stop flowing before your cup is no longer under the nozzle. Very poor design.
Some good stuff: The peekaboo front door is very handy and the ice cubes are not crescent moons. So those are both really good things. If you need a refrigerator for the next 4.5 to 5 years and don't mind water all over your kitchen floor constantly, then this is the one for you.
It lasted three years and they want $1,000 to fix it. "Sears" technicians have been out to my house three times. They are actually third party vendors who charge third party prices (hundreds over what Sears parts are sold for online) and Sears customer service now goes to agents in the Philippines who contradict info from the techs but won't intervene. 7 days without a fridge now and no end in sight. Nightmare!!
