Quiet coolness

Bought this AC a few days ago because I was looking for a really quiet AC for my bedroom. This one does the trick. Majorly important: install it right and with attention to detail: make sure it does not just sit on the bracket but also on the window sill! That being said: you need to ensure that the upper side of the bracket is pretty much exactly 18mm below the lower window frame where the AC will sit on. Initially the unit sat on the bracket only, which was ok, but lowering it by just a tad made a huge difference!

mold and water condensation on the controls

this is the most expensive AC unit I have ever had and the most crapy one. It has NO DEHUMIDIFICATION POWER, which means it will only cool down your room and keep all the moisture in the air. there is water condensation on the controls and mold everywhere inside the unit. even my cheapest, very loud AC unit does the job better than this OVERPRICED PIECE OF ****. I called sears repair service and they charge 75$ for somebody to come and look if it's corectly instaled - like I'm a moron who has no idea how to put AC in a window. I'm taking it back to the store tomorrow and they will charge me 15% restocking fee. ONE BIG JOKE!!!!

My Kenmore Window Air Conditioner, Model # 253.70062=extreme disappointment! Worst problem=completely riddled w MOLD, so much MOLD that I don't think it's possible to clean out all of it! Perhaps it's caused by water that does not drain. I saw on Shop My Way site that others have same water problem! I have it on an appropriate tilt for this NOT to happen; yet it still does. As if the MOLD was not bad enough, it does not work now without SPITTING a LOT of water out into the room. Trying to figure out why it was spitting water is how I found the mold! The AC isn't old enough for these problems! It's been stored & used correctly for 3 - 4 years I've owned it.

Don't buy!

Lasted 3 seasons. Put in this year and no cold air! Warranty for 5 years for closed system, but they want $200 just to check it!! No wonder Sears is going downhill fast! Kenmore brand used to be good! It's trash now, I can get a new one for $100 more than the service call alone!

Great customer service!

I recently purchased a room air conditioner that the model had recently been updated. The sales associate helped me to find the correct part number to be able to order the side accordian pieces that helped it to fit in the window properly. With his help, the purchase was perfect!

Only lasted 3 Summers

I have had this unit for 3 Summers, This year i pulled it out of the closet only to find out it's not blowing cold air, these units cannot be recharged. I expected a Kenmore appliance to last longer the 3 Summers of use i got. Made in China junk

Quiet, easy installation

I bought this ac for my livingroom/dining room in my tiny apartment in new york. It took some help from my son to get it installed in under 15 minutes. Performance wise, it takes quite a bit of time to get the room at desired temp. Next time, I'll buy something with higher btu.

Must push very hard for the touch control to operate. The remote doesn't work at all.
