I've had this grill 2 years now. I've read some of the negative reviews and some of the positive reviews. I have to say for me the grill was an awesome bargain. It was on sale and I managed to get it for less than $500. So with that savings I had it pre-assembled and shipped. It heats up quickly and cooks just great. I make it a point to do a good cleaning on it by removing the grates and soaking them, then scrub them down. I also cut down on flare-ups by cleaning the fire box really good. This keeps the grease build up to a minimum. I use a stainless steel cleaner on the outside and it looks great. I love the storage and the flip up shelf. Over all, this is a great grill. My friends compliment me on it all the time. It just takes some maintenance and some fore site to keep it working and looking decent. This would hold true for just about everything, once you think about it. I waited this long to write a review on it because I wanted to really see how it would hold up. I think it did just fine.
This grill started off fine but deteriorated rapidly in year 2. Could not get heat over 400 and eventually rusted out to the point that pieces were crumbling and falling off. The grill was well maintained and I would categorize myself at more than just the common backyard griller (I've competed and I'm certified to judge BBQ contest). Not expecting this piece to be competition worth as it's for home use but I would expect for the price and the Kenmore name that you would and should get more than 2 years use out of it. Going in the trash this weekend as it's not even worth the rebuild at this point and will not consider Kenmore brand going forward despite it's past reputation
I bought this grill last summer. The grill is great but the side burner does not work. I have tried for 6 months to get Sears to fix the burner or honor their warranty and replace the grill to no avail.I have always been pleased with Sears but after this experience I will never buy anything from Sears again!
I bought this grill a couple of months before Harvey hit the Galveston area. First, assembly was not that bad. I did it myself and had no problem. I was amazed at how well it worked and how quickly it lit up. During Harvey we suffered flooding and this grill was flipped over and washed away to my fence. Unfortunately it did not become a priority because of the flooding our house suffered. When I finally got time to move it back to our BBQ area my wife asked if I should just dump it. I cleaned it up like new. Completely forgetting that the ignitor batteries were still in place. The first time we lit it up again was earlier the next year and it lit up and we cooked burgers, hot dogs and grilled various vegetables. It worked great and still works great. Made steaks 2 weeks ago and everyone was pleased. I would buy this again.
