Saw this in the retail store @400 bucks, wife fell in love with it so went back the following week since it had gone on sale. Assembly wasnt too bad except for the extra metal **** left behind when spot welding occures around the threaded hole that was causing the caster wheel to cross thread eveytime. Nothing a dremel couldnt fix, but very annoying. After assembling heat up unit for the first time heats up quick, and cooking on it, cooks like a dream with the extra cooking area. Everybody who sees it is shocked by the price and quality. Best purchase ever
Bought this grill about a year ago. We grill everyday in summer. Sometimes in winter when weather allows. Always cool it down and cover it. Needs new heat shields and burners and the rod in back that holds burns. I called for replacement parts. Hope you're sitting down. $469.00 for replacement parts. So here sits a $299.00 on sale grill that I can't use. Do I make it into a planter? We thought with kenmore we were getting a better quality grill. Not so.
This grill burners rust out rapidly. Horrible workmanship waste of money!
Pleasantly surprised with the quality of grill for the purchase price.... only have prepared one meal, grilled vegetables with a marinated pork loin, equipment worked flawlessly and the food was cooked to perfection!
Not the high-end quality of a DCS grill, but it is pretty well-made for the price. Was impressed with the way all panels lined up and the fit of the different surfaces. Don't final torque the bottom shelf screws until the rest of the unit is constructed and it will go together real nice.
All screws, pieces, and hardware were accounted for, however the cylinder brace for the lower self and panel was in a separate package that's not needed until a later step so you end up looking for it thinking its missing.
Assembled the grill according to the instructions. Although they state to have an assistant help you lift it out of the box, you can manage on your own by tilting the unit to one side then the other to remove the packing material once the other items on top have been removed. At that point remove the two cotter pins, screws and nuts that hold the lid on and now one person can easily lift the BBQ unit onto a table of move it where needed as well install it during that step..
Another item that was not real clear in the instructions is the location of the Regulator and the Side Burner hose. They are wire-tied-in for shipping purposes into the main control panel behind the burner knobs. So just release the ties and everything comes out to be able to make connections after you bend the metal hose into position for the side burner.
Also place the main corrugated hose line to where the BBQ can clear it before you screw it onto the lower wheeled frame.
This 6 burner grill works great and the sale price was made it the best.
We purchased a similar model Kenmore grill about 4 years ago. Used it 3-4 times a month and always kept it covered when not in use. Electronic ignition gave out almost immediately. Had to replace the burners and the heat shields within 2 years, now the bottom tray has rusted out. When I tried to replace it, I was told by the unhelpful store salesman that they no longer make it, and he had no idea of an alternative. I messaged the company for advice and they said to check with the manufacturer. Um, it's a Kenmore, i.e. something presumably manufactured by Sears but apparently not anymore. I'm officially no longer a Kenmore customer.
Never got the grill. Ordered it and was told it would be available for pick up in the store 2 days later. A week later, nothing. After finding an online chat to discuss my issues with a representative (apparently there is no customer service number to call for such issues), I was informed that my order had an issue and had to be canceled. I was offered $30 off for my trouble, told that my order could be re-placed, and would be available for pickup in 2 weeks. I told the rep to cancel my order. After 10 minutes of attempted coercion to keep me from canceling my order, the rep finally complied. I was offered a free home improvement project estimate for my trouble and told I would be fully refunded. I went and purchased another grill from elsewhere, assembled it and used it a couple of times when I received an email from Sears/KMART that my grill was ready for pickup! I had to follow up repeatedly to make sure that my money was refunded. Furthermore, my "free home improvement project estimate" subjected me to approximately 11 SPAM calls over a 3 day period including a Sunday. To sum it up, an attempted purchase turned into me not receiving my grill, being acosted by my wife for not having a grill for a week, to me spending about two hours trying to get my money back, and warding off SPAM calls. I tried to give 0 stars for this experience, but had to give 1 star to write a review. I will NEVER. buy. from. Sears. or. KMART. again. EVER.
