I brought this product because I needed a fridge ASAP! It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I was a little disappointed when I realized there was no ice maker, but it was my fault I did not fully read the description. Overall it works great. I would highly recommend this product.
We have owned this less than 6 months and have had nothing but trouble with the freezer not keeping food frozen. We bought it because it was advertised as "Garage Ready" and wanted to use it as a second refrigerator/freezer in our partially heated basement. We live in the Northeast where basements can get cool in the Winter, but ours would rarely drop below 58-60 degrees. The technician has said that these units do not function properly when the surrounding environment might occasionally be cooler than 60 degrees. That certainly doesn't sound like a unit that would be appropriate for a garage. The advertisement says nothing about this, so buyer beware. Sears Customer Solutions says they will not typically replace it because it's outside the 30 day window for returns, but say they'll do it if we pay a 15% re-stocking fee. This does not seem very fair when the unit really is not what it's advertised to be. Very frustrating.
Overall the fridge is great but it did come with a defective handle. They had to order another handle that we are still waiting on.
Nice product and reasonably priced.
Not even considering the terrible delivery service (dumped on my floor, not leveled, and when I shouted to the guys who were taking off to please level, they jumped in the truck and ran off. An AT&T repair guy in my house at the time could not believe how bad the delivery people were. He even tried to level the fridge for me).
This fridge is junk. First off, the measurements are not totally accurate. It's actually slightly wider than listed. Second, it doesn't work. Period. When it first arrived two months ago, I thought it odd that i had to turn the temp to lower than recommended to get my food cool. Then, every couple week, I'd find it had warmed up again, and have to turn it closer to "coldest" setting. Last week I had to turn it down for the 3rd or 4th time, just below the "coldest" setting. i was concerned, as there was only one notch to go before it couldn't be lowered any further.
This morning I check on my food for a party I was having- everything was barely cool. I turned the fridge to coldest setting and waited for it to cool down. Barely a change. I felt cold air coming out the mechanism in back of fridge, but not very strongly. I waited an hour or so, but it shut off without further cool down. Called service, was grilled by a rude rep, then hung up on when I asked for a supervisor. Called back and the new rep was nicer, but kept saying her computer was frozen and she couldn't enter my info. She continued with this line for 10 minutes. I asked to be transferred to a person with a working fridge or to a supervisor, but she ignored the requests and kept telling me her computer would be back on in a minute. I told her several times I had people coming over for a party, but she expected me to stay on the line waiting for her computer to work. Are you kidding?
I messaged the Sears facebook page. They said they could get a service person out. Haha! Have you read the reviews? They expect people to wait 3 weeks for someone, then be cancelled on the day of appointment and rescheduled for weeks later. Does Sears think a working fridge is a luxury? Does Sears think a brand new fridge should break down 2 months after purchase? Apparently so. So now what, Sears?
I'm reporting this to the California Department of Consumer Affairs, as well as the state attorney general. There is multi-state inquiry and potential lawsuit against Sears for consumer fraud, and this is just further evidence of their misrepresentation. They say the appliance is under warranty for a year but they do all they can to avoid honoring the warranty. A product that is not fit for the purpose for which it is sold is fraud and misrepresentation. The warranty is part of the product.
