Just right for the price

I brought this product because I needed a fridge ASAP! It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I was a little disappointed when I realized there was no ice maker, but it was my fault I did not fully read the description. Overall it works great. I would highly recommend this product.

Freezer does not work properly

We have owned this less than 6 months and have had nothing but trouble with the freezer not keeping food frozen. We bought it because it was advertised as "Garage Ready" and wanted to use it as a second refrigerator/freezer in our partially heated basement. We live in the Northeast where basements can get cool in the Winter, but ours would rarely drop below 58-60 degrees. The technician has said that these units do not function properly when the surrounding environment might occasionally be cooler than 60 degrees. That certainly doesn't sound like a unit that would be appropriate for a garage. The advertisement says nothing about this, so buyer beware. Sears Customer Solutions says they will not typically replace it because it's outside the 30 day window for returns, but say they'll do it if we pay a 15% re-stocking fee. This does not seem very fair when the unit really is not what it's advertised to be. Very frustrating.

Disappointed...lower priced item but still did not get my money's worth

I have had this refrigerator in my home for a little over 6 months now and am very disappointed. I purchased this fridge online using the layaway option because, at the time, it was all I could afford and now I wish I had just continued to use my old leaking fridge for a few more months until I could afford to buy a better (and naturally, more expensive) appliance. Within 2 months the lower handle became loose and eventually broke off because of a flimsy plastic piece, I bought the part and fixed it myself but it is almost impossible to align it perfectly without breaking that same plastic piece, so now the handle is not flush to the door but it works. Yesterday I woke up to thawing meat and melted ice cream in the freezer and everything in the refrigerator was cool, not cold. Normally this fridge is Very loud but not anymore. I had to turn the temperature adjustment up and down several times to get it to "work" again, I heard a slight noise from the back so I left the doors unopened for 6 hours and everything refroze but the lower part is still just cool. This morning I woke up to find it thawing again so I called for repair only to be asked if the doors are closed, if I had too much/too little food in it, and what room the refrigerator is in and what the temperature of that room is. I was then told that it should be placed on the lowest cold setting, but when I explained that I will put it on "recommended" she said that I need to put it on the coldest setting for 24 hours. I'm more frustrated than confused at this point and just want to make a repair appointment before my 13 month warranty expires ( which started the day I placed it on layaway, not after it was actually delivered, so I lost almost 3 months of that warranty) but I was told I have to wait and see what happens after the 24 hour period and call again. I am very disappointed and wish there was a "trade-up" available. Even though i paid less than $600 for the fridge, I feel I should have at least gotten 2 years out of it.
