Don’t buy this machine

I purchased this item for a condo and it was nothing but trouble from the beginning. The lid on the washing machine continually locked.  Some times it would release after a day.  When I finally called repair service the man could not find the serial number which should be in the inside of the dryer. Without the serial number he could not repair the machine. After hours on the phone to various series warranty people I still don’ Have a serial number.  They have told me there is nothing they can do.  I am looking at having to dump a brand new machine.  I have written a complaint to sears corporate offices complaining about the missing serial number.

As glitchy as they come

|

Takes at least 45-60 minutes to wash medium/large loads, there is a lot of "downtime" throughout the cycle where it sounds like it's not doing anything, seems like the sensor system takes way too long to think about water level, spinning, etc. Forget about washing one towel, blanket or pair of jeans - load will always be off balance and shake like crazy. If the load is off balance you pretty much can't get the lid to unlock to redistribute the weight, you have to trick it into another wash cycle to unlock. Sensors fill it to only as much water as you need and it fills the tub in spurts which is kind of annoying. Spin cycle takes ~30 minutes where it spins and stops and spins and stops. Small layer of lint triggers the dryer to stop so you have to keep an eye on it or your clothes will sit there wet until you clean the lint. The preset dry options don't fully dry clothes.
Bought this to replace a 17 year old Kenmore Laundry center and seriously miss the old one. If you have to get this for a small space, just anticipate basic laundry use. It does clean and dry well but that wash cycle is SO long. The titanium model is handsome but I wish there was better functionality.

Against my better judgement

The sales process went smoothly enough, however, the delivery and customer service stunk. The unit arrived damaged-severly damaged. It looked as though it had been dropped off of the truck more than once. We initially refused shipment but were told "it will take longer to get a replacement if we take it back" by the delivery drivers. I was patched into customer service..(which by the way is not in the US) and was immediatly offered $100 if I accpeted the damaged unit, which I refused..I was then offerd $200 if I would accept it..what is this, lets make deal? I explained that the unit was so severly damaged that even free wouldnt suffice. I would like a new please...The I was told it would take 4 weeks to get a replacement...really?? At that point i said I wish to cancel this order and want it picked up, to which Sears replied I will have a manager call you within an hour...an hour later...no call. So I called back and finally got someone who could help me. It is scheduled to be picked up tomorrow. Sears...does anyone within your organization have a clue as to why your business is failing and stores are being closed? You fail on so many levels...product, delivery, customer service, even when i walked through your store after purchasing this washer, no one at checkstands, no customer service or help, and your tool area picked over and totally unorganized. This was the Santa Rosa store location in California, it looks like it is on the verge of closing. Take a hint from ******, **********, *****, ******** etc. Their business model works...yours doesnt. I will NEVER buy anything from Sears again.
