chest freezer

Purchased this about 3 weeks ago. Runs VERY quietly. Don't even notice it is in the same room. We got the 7.2 cu. ft. freezer. We purchased 4 Sterilite plastic containers (approx.15 1/2" long, 11 3/4" wide, 9 1/4"deep), with little green handles that lay flat on each side of top of container from Walmart and they fit perfectly in the freezer. Stack 2 and 2. The containers also have hand holes on each end for easier lifting. The containers make the food SO much more accessible in the chest freezer. I put frozen vegs. in one, meat in one, etc. and lift out the container that I need to look in and close the freezer while I find what I want. I still have so much more room left over. Thankful for my freezer!

If Loses Power, Won't Automatically Restart

This freezer worked fine for us until we had a momentary power outage in the middle of the night. Discovered the next day that everything in the freezer (all our produce we had frozen from our garden) was thawed. Reading the fine print in the manual, I discovered that if the unit loses power, you have to turn it off and wait 3 to 5 minutes before turning it back on or it won't restart. Isn't that a great design? Be warned!!

Reasonably priced Freezer

|

I bought this for a second freezer and it is a wonderful freezer. I have had no problems with it at all. The price was very reasonable and it is a good quality freezer.

Lasted 16 months

|

Bought this freezer Jan 2014. Installed it and have not moved it since installation. Went to open it today (May 2015) and everything in it is spoiled. Apparently it quit working in the past week. I certainly expected it to work for more than 16 months, but at least it made it twelve so the warranty is gone.

Will not restart after power outage!

|

This freezer shuts off and stays off after just a few seconds of a power flicker during storms. You must unplug it for a couple of minutes and then plug it back in. Good luck if you're out of town. We lost one freezer-full of food already and came close a couple more times. It's incredibly stupid. It's 9 months into warranty, so we're going back to Sears and demanding a better freezer with at least a partial refund for this piece of junk.
