Fresh Food, Clean AirKenmore’s...
When I first purchased this refrigerator, I was taking a chance because there weren't any reviews. All I knew was that I had pretty good luck with Kenmore products in the past. I've had this refrigerator for about two months and I'm really happy with this purchase. When it was first delivered, I wasn't too sure that I'd made the right decision because the refrigerator made several 'sounds' that I hadn't heard in my Samsung. After about a week of continuous operation, those little annoying sounds all disappeared. And it wasn't that I'd gotten used to them, they have disappeared and are no more. I was reading a review on another brand and the person was told by a repairman that the noises would stop once their refrigerator worked out all of the kinks of being brand new and this one has done the same. The space is simply great. I replaced a 26 cu. ft. refrigerator with this one and CAN tell the difference. The shelves seem much deeper. And the freezer is pretty large too. Features - One of the reviewers said that the refrigerator does not have crushed ice and that's simply not true. I'm not sure which refrigerator that reviewer was referring to, but this one has cubed and crushed ice and they're clearly marked on the front of the refrigerator. Another thing that I like about the refrigerator that Sears does not even mention in the description is that several of the shelves pull out about 6 inches so that you can reach items that you've placed in the rear. That is a great feature that I just happened to 'discover' one day while looking inside of the refrigerator. Appearance - The refrigerator is very pretty. I know that sounds weird, but it really is a good looking appliance. The stainless steel is so shiny and clean and simply looks great, but it does show fingerprints very easily; however, that's an easy fix. I purchased a stainless steel clearer/polish and use it about twice a week or as needed and the refrigerator still looks brand new. The polish also prevents fingerprints. It's a great product and came from one of the big box stores. The refrigerator seems to be very well built and should last for years to come. And fortunately for me, I bought it in early November when it was offered at an unbelievably GREAT price. It was literally a 'steal'. I would recommend this refrigerator to anyone. Thus far, it has been a great purchase and I'm very, very happy with it.
We purchased this refrigerator in November 2014, within 3 months the ice maker starts making this loud noise, similar to the sound of a weed eater. You could hear it through the whole house! Still under the warranty, we had Sears come out to fix it, they fix it, then it starts making the noise again. Long story short - they came out 4 or 5 times, then a couple of months go by and the noise starts again! But this time it's one month after the one year warranty is up. I called Sears and they won't fix it, spent hours on the phone with them and they refused to fix it under the warranty and also wanted to charge me a $115 diagnostic fee to see what was wrong with it. Really? You come out multiple times and you still don't know? As you can imagine, I was/still am furious, I feel like I was scammed and we don't have the extra money to deal with this. So we lived with this noise a couple more months then all of a sudden, the ice maker just stopped working. So to sum up, Sears came out multiple times, never fixed it (honestly I feel like they put a band-aid on it to make it work through the one year date so they could then charge me to fix it or try to convince me to buy their extended warranty), and after 15 months of owning it, the ice maker doesn't even work! I never leave reviews like this, but if I can help just one buyer out there then I have done a good thing. Please buyers out there - read these reviews, I am not the only one saying this, don't buy this refrigerator and don't buy from Sears. Sears is just not the same store as it used to be.
Same ice maker issue as the others. 5th Repairman finally busted the refrigerant line spraying R134a into the kitchen. Sears finally condemned it and offered to replace it with an identical model. I refused. Offered store credit, I refused, just want a refund and Sears refused. Store won't take it back, says it has hazardous materials in it! But it's okay to leave it in my house. Worst appliance experience ever. Replaced a 15 year Kenmore that never needed a repair. Sears has failed miserably. Asked to have them come an get the refrigerator and they could keep the store credit, they scheduled a Saturday pickup and never showed. Unbelievable. Do not buy this refrigerator. I noticed the highly rated comments are recent. They haven't gotten to the point where the icemaker frosts over and the fan starts screaming. We loved it to for the first few weeks. I now have a 300 pound paper weight in my house.
Love having a larger freezer than standard one
The ice maker worked fine for about six months- once the ice maker went out service was pretty quick to swap it out but no success. I had to wait 7 days to be sure it didn't work and then called again. The tech came out and ordered a whole new panel- which took a month to receive parts and get installed. It worked for about 6 weeks and again has gone out. I tried to call the 800 number...which says 'call 24 hours 7 days' only to here a recording said that they are closed. We purchased a year ago any day now with a second broken ice maker. Stay away.
I've had this fridge for 4 years. Fridge stopped working within 12 months. Warranty repair fixed issue no charge. Ice maker stopped pushing ice out after 18 months. Didn't want to pay for repair so no ice since. Look at the model #. If it starts with a 253 it's made by Gibson. Who's that? Cheap!!! Fortunately a power surge fried this unit and it will be $600 to fix so we are getting a new one. The first three numbers in the model # tell you who makes it. Stick with ones made by Whirlpool
I bought this refrigerator for my new home and was very excited when I got it. I wish I would have read reviews before my purchase because I would not have bought this refrigerator if I knew then what I know now. I have hade the refrigerator foe 4 months and the ice maker no longer works. I have talked to service and have followed their instructions but ice maker still is not working. Not sure if I want service to come out because it sounds like they will not fix it. I would not expect Sears to manufacture something with such a flaw. VERY DISAPPOINTED
Please don't buy this refrigerator!!!!!! Like others our icemaker quit working at 13 months and of course sears won't do anything. Just to buy the motor is over $100. Luckily my dad's a retiree Sears man and he can repair it. If not it would have cost at least $500. Very sad when you spend so much money and it only last one year.
We purchased this refrigerator for a replacement of an older model Kenmore. I like the capacity of the refrigerator and the color. This model is a bit loud (humming) and the water filter did take a bit of time to clear before the water and ice were pleasant to taste and cook with.
brand new . the icemaker fan is LOUD 30 feet away loud. replaced fan same thing. the egg bin is too small and you have to fit the cartons in. the stainless is coated to help with fingerprints but scratches easy. i rather have fingerprints than scratches. When using ice it went into powerfailure mode. every week a new sound appears to eminate from it.
