Kenmore Black French Door 28

This unit replaced a 2 year old Samsung that quit cooling. After four months of repair work, we were very careful about a replacement. The repairman was knowledgeable, was here 8 times and became a good friend! He recommended Frigidare. The AC guy recommended the same. Both cautioned to get just one compressor, not 2 like the Samsung unit. Delivery guys said they got very few returns on this Kenmore. Researched it and this particular Kenmore is the only one made by Frigidare. Love the features....spacious, beautifully lit, lots of options with shelves and bins. Drawers go back in place securely. Runs quiet. Controls in the door are easy to read. Freezer baskets and compartments are very nice. Pretty designs on the bottom of door shelves. Small design flaw with location of water line in freezer (it's way back there). But after four months without a fully functioning refrigerator, we can live with that! No problems. It's beautiful.

DON'T BUY IT

I've had 7 service calls and they refuse to fix the problem. The air does not circulate in the fridge so the food either freezes or goes bad from not being kept at a proper temperature. We put 2 thermometers in the fridge one in the very back and one on the shelf close to the door. They read between 15 and 20 degrees difference. The service people keep saying nothing is wrong and will not do anything. They just don't want to fix it. We even tried putting a small fan inside to help circulate the air. They sell fans like this for refrigerators in motorhomes. The fan helps some but is still not enough for the large fridge as the fridge in our RV is much smaller. I even purchased the service plan which has not helped at all. BIG waste of money and time even if it seemed to be a good buy at the time.

Love IT

After reading the reviews I almost hate to brag. We have had great luck with ours...we have chose not to hook the ice machine up as we never use ice-drives the kids batty when they come to visit-but woud be a waste for us. I love the freezer on bottom and the french doors. Im not usually one for change but this was a good change all around. I want to buy one for my daughter and her new house but the clearance price is $500 more than i paid a year ago :( so i will shop around...great addition to our household

Defective out of the box

|

Came with a bad crimp on the freon line, slowly leaked out and stopped working within six days, had to throw out all the food. When I contacted Sears, they gave me a hard time about covering this under warranty. The repairman said that he has seen this issues on Frigidaire products.

Wish I could have seen it on display in store

Protective plastic covering almost impossible to remove. Refrigerator doors slam shut violently. Glass shelves are made for left and right side of refrigerator. We got more left hand than right hand ones -- so can't install one shelf. Very noisy, especially ice maker. Upper wire rack in freezer allows food to fall over into lower bin at back. Ice maker container is way too large -- takes up much of upper rack area. LED temperature display is only for setting -- not actual current temperature.

Large mid-range Refrigerator

Selected for basic functional needs. Did not want bells and whistles. Only issue so far, temperature controls do not accurately reflect actual temperature in refrigerator or freezer
