White Kenmore 71312 has plenty of room, nice features w/out all the "extra's" that although are good for some was not what I needed. I was replacing a 17 yr old Maytag of same size but very basic. (and not laid out nearly as nice as this one) I've not had this one long but would say that I am loving it so far. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because as another review pointed out the shelving bracket strip IS an issue and does not allow you space the shelves as much as you really need to. (puts them to close together to put taller/larger items) I was really upset about this at first thinking I had really "messed up" in my choice in this fridge but my husband suggested removing a shelf on one side (still leaving you Plenty) and problem solved!! I also want to point out the bottom freezer (new for me and loving) has more space than I expected. The lower bin is plenty deep enough to hold a Large box of frozen waffles from one of those big box wholesale stores with plenty of room to spare. Ice maker has been much quieter than my old one and makes lots of ice in a short amount of time. Very happy with my purchase. Really wanted to give 5 stars, if not for bracket for shelving I totally would have. OH, and also want to point out the very bottom "shelf" (top of drawers) does NOT have a seam down the middle which is a very good thing to me. Easier to clean and keeps spills from seeping to bottom.
I really wanted to like this refrigerator and waited 2.5 weeks for it to arrive, hoping my old fridge would last that long. I do like the 23.9 large capacity in the 32 inch width and the large pantry drawer. Like the extra roomy inside door shelves. Beside the French Door look, the feature that sold me on this model were the adjustable shelves. The issue is the body of the interior is meant to be interchangeable with single door and single shelf models - "one size fits all" when it comes to the interior, apparently. As a result, while there are four ledges on each side to hold the single shelf, the 4th ledge at the bottom is useless if you have only interchangeable shelves. Before trudging back to Sears to see if perhaps this was a simple adjustment, I checked the manual -- which reflected the older version of the shelf hook on center strip bracket. Sears took a look -- and no, it is not manually adjustable. The center strip bracket does not go down far enough to hook into so it does act allow the left or right interchangeable shelf to be placed there. This means that you are stuck with too much room at the bottom and very few options above that as there are limited shelf hooks on the center strip. Because the center strip has so few spaces, and the shelf hook needs an upper and lower bracket to hook into, it will not allow you to share any center strip which further limits any spacing options. A possible solution would be to buy an additional single long shelf to use on the 4th ledge -- but the interchangeable shelves above would have to be lifted -- running into the aforementioned spacing issue. Another option would be to say audios to the white Kenmore and go with the stainless steel Kenmore elite without the waterhooks -- which gives me a mismatched kitchen. On second and third thought, not an option. The grey sides of the stainless steel would make the kitchen too dark. I think the best option would be for Sears to swap out the center strip and replace it with one that allows hooks down to the 4th ledge. There is an existing spacer on the top and bottom that appears can be modified. So my advice -- be aware that the adjustment shelves are not all that flexible the way it is currently designed.
If you want to keep your food cold, this really does the job. I like having an ice maker located in the freezer vs. the refrigerator compartment and the French door with bottom freezer is practical and convenient.
I wish I could tell you the pros & cons of this model, but we are having trouble with the delivery from Sears. They said they would deliver it Wednesday between 10 and 12. So I got everything ready for delivery. But they called around 11 on Wednesday to say the refrigerator arrived damaged, so they rescheduled a delivery for Thursday between 12 and 2. So I got everything ready on Thursday. Then they called at 1 on Thursday to say they were running late and would not get to us until after 4:30. OK, so I left to do stuff and got back home just after 4. I found a message on our machine that they tried to deliver at 3:45 but no one was home (and they did not call the cell number that I gave them). Yeesh! I called the toll-free number about this, had a devil of a time getting through their system to a human being, and clearly someone in a distant land at that. Can't tell what will happen next, but next time I will not bother to get anything ready until they get to my door!
We have bought major appliances from Sears from years and we are also about ready to get a new clothes dryer, but after this bad delivery experience we will take our business elsewhere. Sorry Sears.
the ice maker is loud and I don't like the door exterior
