I own this item for a short time now and so far all is working well. The only problem I have is the high priced extended warranty that Sears offers with their product. I have a relative that purchased an LG refrigerator which is comparable to Sears product and payed much less for their extended warranty. For this reason alone I could not recommend this item to a friend.
If this fridge actually worked for more than 12 solid months at a time I would give it 5 starts. Bought fridge #1 in late March 2015 for a new construction house. Didn't actually move into the house until May and started using the fridge at that time. Mid April 2016 fridge is no longer cooler. I was told by Sears that the fridge needed a new motherboard and this was no longer covered under the Kenmore (LG - because this fridge is made by LG) warranty. $300 and 2 service visits later the fridge still isn't cooling. I was then informed it needed a new compressor. Another service visit and $400 later the fridge still isn't cooling. By this point I'd been without a fridge for 3 weeks and had just purchased one from ******. We decided we'd put this repaired one in the garage for drinks and parties. Unfortunately it was never able to be repaired and was declared a lemon. Sears (finally) did the right thing and replaced it with a brand new version of the same model on May 31, 2016. Guess what? It stopped working on April 7, 2017. 10.5 months and fridge #2 needs a new motherboard and a new compressor. This fridge has great capacity and is awesome. However, it is a dud and not worth the money or wasted time.
I got the fridge because my last fridge was having defrosting issues. I decided to get a bigger fridge since I live far from any stores and only grocery shop every two weeks. This fridge is huge and holds all the food I buy and then some. The shelves and drawers make it easy to access everything without taking a bunch of stuff out. The double freezer drawers are great and hold quite a bit of items and make everything easily accessible. The water filter is super easy to replace as well. The one thing that was a problem was the width. It says 35 7/8 inches but it's more like 36 exactly. I had a little over 36 inches for it to fit and since it wouldn't, I ended up cutting my counter to get it in.
Picture shows this is a kenmore elite? And it's not. Now my new Kenmore elite stove and dishwasher do not match refrigerator. They arrived yesterday Dec.4 and thats how I realized the refrigerator isn't a kenmore elite. I need to return for a kenmore elite, how do I do this?
I purchased the Kenmore Elite refrigerator along with the microwave, stove and dishwasher in February of 2016 totaling over $6400.00. In April of 2017 the 14 month old refrigerator stopped cooling despite the display that showed that the temperature was at 37 degrees. Sears has since been to my house 3 more times this year because this "new" refrigerator has repeatedly stopped working resulting in the loss of foods. As I am writing this review I have been without a refrigerator for over 40 days while Sears investigates a new issue with this product. To add insult to injury Sears has charged me over $700.00 to "fix" this defective product. I have repeatedly called and written to Sears and requested a refund to no avail. They have given me the run around and refused to replace this clearly defective product.
Do not waste your money.
Great layout, the fingerprint resistant finish is wonderful, quality seems to be good...we've had it for about a month and are very pleased with it.
The fridge is okay. The shelves are annoying because they sag with any weight. I thought the construction would be better for the price. The fridge arrived with a deep scratch, and customer service was so vexing that I'm bothering to write this review. It took four calls to get a small refund as compensation. I absolutely got the runaround, was lied to, was told I couldn't talk to the manager nor receive their name or phone number and to cap it off, was hung up on. My previous fridge was an LG. When that had a problem, it took one phone call to resolve it. I'm kicking myself for buying at Sears. Never again.
