love my new Kenmore frenchdoor refridgerator

Found just the right fridge at Sears. The right height and with and plenty of room inside and love the pull out freezer as a draw. Able to see everything no more digging.

super thin plastic and small space

|

low quality plastic used for drawers. any weight added makes them sag off of their tracks. Storage on doors is not usable...bins are too small for bottles or jars. The doors do not close and get jammed. low quality.

Didn't Work When Deliveried - Waited 3 Days for a Replacement

|

First refrigerator arrived on April 24. Installation team plugged the unit in, installed the water line, and the unite started to blow warm air. They said this was normal and to wait two hours. Waited for two hours and unit was still blowing warm air.

Called customer service (somewhere in East Asia - probably the Philippines) and they said that blowing warm air was normal said that it would be at least 24 hours before the unit cooled to proper temperature - maybe 48 hours if it was humid. Waited the full 24 hours and the temperature in the fridge was 71 degrees and still blowing warm air. Customer service said a technician would need to be sent and that the first available appointment would be on May 7. Told them that simply would not work and to get a replacement unit to me at once or I'd move the refrigerator to my garage, call American Express to dispute the ~$1,500 charge, and go to ******** and get a new unit that was available for pick up the following day. After going back and forth, the representative agreed to have the delivery service complete a swap which I have learned was the first thing that should have been offered - not the May service appointment.

Received the replacement unit this afternoon. It was installed and was cold inside in about 45 minutes, made its' first batch of ice in about 90 minutes, and seems to be working fine.

I'm sure this is probably a great refrigerator and we'll soon see how it holds up. Whirlpool made this Kenmore refrigerator, so I'm fairly confident that it will hold up. My rating is based strictly on the very poor customer service - both on set up (the set up team didn't stick around to determine if the unit was operating correctly and the very bad information I was getting from the call center about the way the unit was supposed to operate.

Live and learn. I've never had this much difficulty with Sears in the past. This is one of a few dozen Kenmore products I've purchased in the last 10 years and will likely be the last.
