Designed for Maximum Storage
We needed a new refrigerator after our 12 year old KitchenAid was starting to decline in performance. We researched and considered several options from the "usual suspects" of large chain stores carrying a large selection of refrigerators. After reading several reviews about the "loud noises" and problems with the ice maker, I had reservations about this model. After more searching and evaluation of other models, we continued to come back to this one time and time again. We liked its' overall design. It was basic (less bells and whistles to break) and simplistic, yet very functional...the drawers glide with ease and work much better than the ones in my original fridge. We liked that the front of the doors were flat rather than contoured, just because it looks better in our space. It also has the fingerprint resistant feature, which is not available on all models. Finally, we liked that it was marked down significantly due to the holiday sale. We purchased online and received free delivery, which was awesome. The unit was delivered on time and the two gentlemen who brought it were absolutely awesome! They took amazing effort to be careful with the refrigerator and considerate of our home. They were also very friendly and professional with excellent customer service skills. Now back to the refrigerator. We have had it for a few weeks and so far it is working perfectly. Since this is our first french door refrigerator and I had read reviews about items in the doors not being kept at proper temperature, I purchased two thermometers and put one in the door and one in the freezer. So far the temperatures in both have been perfectly maintained. The ice maker has worked great and produces smaller cubes of ice (which we like), rather than the big half moon ones we're used to with the old fridge. As for the noise, and this is why I rated 4/5 overall. It does make more noise in comparison to our 12 year old side by side KitchenAid, but it is not overwhelming and overall does not bother us. When we hear it make funny noises, we just laugh and say, "well, it is kind of loud from time to time, but we bought it on sale and it keeps everything perfectly cold, so who cares." Hope this helps you if you're looking for a new fridge.
I haven't had this refrigerator for a full month and the ice maker has stopped working. It also makes a loud noise. I just noticed why the bottom shelf wasn't closing properly....it was installed without wheel;( .
quit working in less then a year. use to get Kenmore all the time, but. now know why you have to close so many stores not any more. I will never get another Kenmore, the products suck
Very unhappy about the quality of this fridge. We've owned it for less than 18 months and it needs a $600 repair. The ice maker has never worked well and we even had a Sears repair person out to look at it, but they claimed there was nothing wrong.
Nice size, very quiet. Didn't need ice maker in door like the one this replaced and enjoy the extra space inside. Would buy again. Simple to order and the men set it up quickly.
We bought this refrigerator to replace a dying (for the second time) seven year old Electrolux model. This fridge had the same dimensions and configuration as the old one, but is much roomier inside, and cost about one-third as much. Some reviewers have said its noisy, but ours is extremely quiet. The brushed steel finish is very nice and resists fingerprints. The ice-maker does make somewhat small cubes, which tend to melt faster than larger, more standard size ones, and it does not produce the 60 to 100 cubes per day the manual says it will. It's more than adequate, though, and we just supplement if needed with a once a day dump of an old-fashioned plastic ice tray. The installers were great, too.
This Kenmore model is built by LG. the compressors last 2-3 yrs. If you bought an LG they would pay to replace it. But if it's Kenmore then Sears will not after the 1 yr warranty. The repair will cost $980.
