Bought this to replace a 14 year old side by side white fridge. promised wife to go stainless this time. We decided on this fridge based on looks and price, however I did read the negative reviews before I purchased the fridge. This is why I am compelled to write this review. First, there is only a total of 25 review as I am writing this. I have only had the fridge a week and I have had no issues that are not explained in the manual that comes with the refrigerator. It does take at least 24 hours for refrigerator to cool when first plugged in. I also read a review about the water leaking out of water spout after use. First the first 24 hours this was an issue. Again the refrigerator has not got down to temp yet. I did not buy refrigerator thermometers, but the refrigerator is cooling as expected as well as the freezer. The ice maker does take up space in the fridge, but you should realize that when you see it. The ice maker does not hold a lot of ice, but that is why they provided a ice bucket to keep in the freezer. To stop the ice from clogging you should turn off the ice maker if you are not going to be using it for a while. This is all written out in the manual. The little shelf is there for everyone. You just have to figure out how it works. The lip of the glass shelf slides in between shelf and ice maker. They do not describe this in the manual. It took about 5 min. to figure out though. The doors are able to keep gallon items. I adjusted the top shelf to hold beer. If you are chilling wine bottles they will have to go on their sides or adjust the little shelf. Maybe I will buy a wine fridge. Overall, extremely happy with this purchased. Had for over a week, family of four no pets, no smudges. People just need to use the handles. Also magnets stick to this fridge as well as other stainless steel fridges that are $3500 in the store. It all depends on the nickel content. Do your own research first. Love, love the space and price. I actually got $100 cheaper for some easter black friday deal. I did try the other stores first only because they are close to where I live. I have always bought sears, fortunately there is one where I work. Quickly went on a lunch break, just to be sure I did not miss anything. Glad I did. That weekend we traveled 1/2 hour and took our time buying it. Sales lady was great and delivery was fantastic. They were 10 min early to the 2 hour window. It took about 1/2 for install and removal. They were fantastic. Just hope it lasts.
The refrigerator won't cool below 40 degrees regardless of what I have the temperature set at. Phone support is atrocioius. I was transferred at least 6 times. When I was finally able to speak to someone, i was given a service appointment over a week away. I have over $200 of spoiled food as my old refrigerator was hauled away. I'm very disappointed at the support I've received . I've purchased numerous Kenmore appliances for several homes but after this experience will no longer purchase or recommend.
The refrigerator does not cool below 40 to 41 degrees regardless of how low you set the panel and the more food you add the higher the temperature (dangerous.) We put a refrigerator thermometer in the refrigerator and there is a good 8 to 12 degrees difference depending on how much food is in the refrigerator. Also, the ice maker is very small so if you don't use ice or need much ice then it won't matter.
I have been using this Kenmore refrigerator for a few months now. It has lots of space and I love my freezer drawer. The only negative thing I have noticed is when we use the crushed ice. It appears some of the crushed ice gets trapped in the door dispenser so the next time you go get water or ice, the melted crushed ice water goes into the cup. When I noticed this issue occurring, I checked the flap and some mold had started to grow there, eww. Easiest solution is not to use the crush ice, not a huge deal breaker but wish I knew this before purchasing.
The icemaker is very slow in dispensing ice and the bin is very small.
we both love the refrigerator but the ice maker quit working within the first week, after having it replaced it still seems a little slow and can't keep up with just me and my wife using the ice. the ice maker storage bin is too small and can't keep up with the demand.
Only thing I don't like is that runs out of ice pretty quickly and it takes a long time to make more
the ice maker says that it has accelaice and I supposed to make more Ice cubes than it normally makes. I have had to have it worked on twice replacing the icemaker as a whole the first time. it still does not keep up the demand of 6 in a household. love the fridge but the icemaker could be better
Terrible fridge many problems , better to pay a little more but buy something good.
After plenty of time spent on reviews we decided to purchase this model. It was a great choice. We love it. The only thing I would say could be better is the door closing mechanism. I wish the refer doors would close completely on their own without having to push them closed. Luckily, the engineers have incorporated an audible alarm when the doors are open too long, or not fully closed. Needless to say, we hear the alarm quite often. Kinda irritating. Our previous refrigerator was also a Kenmore. It was great as well, we moved and left it. It worked great for 10 years. The doors closed every time. I miss it
