The optional 30” black trim kit...
The only things I dislike about this microwave are the controls. You must press a hard-to-see "cook time" button before entering you time. If you forget to press the "cook time" button and hit a number first, the microwave automatically starts for that number of minutes. It's a nuisance, but I'd still buy the microwave again.
Purchased the first microwave on 2/15/16, on 2/23/16 door latch button intermittently was non-functional (door would not open). In addition, the stainless steel facing was separating from front body of microwave near door latch corner (The door latch button was not in contact or rubbing against the stainless facing). Repeatedly the stainless facing was pushed back into place and would adhere. But, in less than an hour as the microwave was sitting idle, the stainless facing would again separate away from the cabinet. Concluded that the stainless facing was bowed or distorted before it was initially assembled and would separate and curl away from the front body of the microwave after the glue or fastener of some sort would loosen. It did not separate in the packaging because it was held in place with the Styrofoam supports in the box. On calling Customer Service, they directed that the oven be returned to the store for exchange or refund. On 2/24/16, this unit was returned and exchanged for another unit of the same model. The second unit was operative for one test by effectively heating two cups of water to boiling. After that, control buttons were no effective in operating the unit on the next morning. As instructed by Customer Service, unit was unplugged and after waiting at least 10 seconds was reconnected. Unit still was not functioning, only the light would be on when start button pushed without the turn table rotating nor the microwave heating. It was also noted that the top of the metal cabinet had a small dent. Since the packaging box the microwave had no damage and there was no incident at home on/or after removing from the box, the dent occurred at the manufacturing facility before packaging. This unit was also returned, but a refund was obtained rather than having another replacement. Source of manufacturing could not be located on packaging or on the microwave oven or in the manual. After some research, it was indicated that this Kenmore model was manufactured at Guangdong Midea in China. I proceeded to buy a different brand with special attention that the model was not produced at that facility. The staff at Sears at Brookfield Wisconsin store was helpful with the exchanges and processed the refund to clear the charged account. They also apologized for the inconveniences I experienced.
Sensor defrosting cooks chicken.....sensor heating works if you stop it once it beeps and starts to count down...disappointed it only lasts 4 years...
This microwave works great when it is working but I have had to replace one of the door safety micro switches 3 time now.
They need a heavy duty higher current switch that doesnt burn out so fast.
The interior really is easy to clean! Lots of great cooking and reheating features. Defrost settings are spot on, but the reheat setting is a little long, but if I remove the food at the warning beep it is perfect. Defrosting rolls and frozen bread is perfect. I love the frozen entree setting! Leftovers straight from freezer to table.
Magnetron tube blew right after 1 year, light daily use heating foods and beverages. Cleaned and maintained well, no abuse, just blew. Also door was hard to open with button.
Easy to clean. Good power. Nice one touch features
