Luckily, I found this at the end of the summer when my 5 year old Frigidaire went out due to a bad fan motor bearing. This unit was easy to install and came with everything needed. I really like the insulation panels that fit over the accordion style panels. They seal tight, block out light, air, and possible bugs. As for the AC itself, it works great. Cools fast and effectively. The only drawback is the swishing water noise it makes since it has no drain, however this is a normal noise that today's units make. They use the condensate water to help cool refrigerant tubes and the coils. Hope to get many years of use out of this product.
This is the 3rd Sears Kenmore air conditioner that I have purchased over the years. The quality has gotten worse with each one. This one is extremely noisy. I still have the first one from 14 years ago and it works just fine. The 2nd one only lasted a few years. This one, the fan is exceptionally loud compared to the other 2. Although it has some nice features that the others did not have, I would not purchase it again.
I gave this one star because there's no option for zero. Bought April, 2018, installed in May and used through early Oct. Turned on today (April 12) for the first time this season -- dead. Just makes a humming noise. Compressor and fan do not come on. Looked all over this site for a contact re. warranty, no luck. With all the Sears store closings, nearest one is now 50 miles away. I'm not driving this thing 50 miles. And the warranty expires in a couple of weeks. I would say don't buy a Kenmore, but they're actually made by other companies, so you could end up with this unit under a different brand. I, however, will not be purchasing a Kenmore. Yes, things break, stuff happens, I get that. But Sears has no way to contact about honoring the warranty. I'm out $240 and done with Sears.
Use the thin foam for vibration insulation.
